Merry Monday and Happy December!

I stumbled on this cute Santa boot vase while shopping at Ho-Ho-HomeGoods a couple of weeks ago. With its signature black buckles, I knew it would make a festive and whimsical centerpiece for a holiday floral arrangement, perfect for a Santa-themed Christmas table to pair with my Santa plates!

To create the centerpiece, I started with one of my favorite flower-arranging tools: chicken wire, an eco-friendly alternative to wet floral foam, as it is reusable.

A small piece tucked into the boot vase creates the sturdy framework to support the flower stems, helping the flowers and foliage stay in place.

For the arrangement itself, I did a little foraging outdoors, clipping some fresh cedar from the trees to form the base greenery. Just three white hydrangeas from the supermarket were all that were needed for soft, snowy fullness against the evergreens.

Next, I added red ball ornament picks, plus a few pinecone picks for interest and texture. For a festive touch, I secured a plaid ball ornament to the ornament picks with floral wire, nestling it among the blooms. . .an easy addition to tie in with the table’s plaid and tartan accents.

Loops of Ho Ho Ho and wire-edge tartan ribbon, secured with wired wood floral picks,
were tucked between the hydrangeas and greenery for another festive holiday accent.

The playful loops and streamers of ribbon add a jolly note to the Santa boot vase to visually tie the centerpiece to the tartan plaid on the table.

Last but not least, I attached a Santa gift tag to hang on the centerpiece.

The gift tag featuring Santa with his finger pressed to his lips adds a little vintage charm and whisper of nostalgia . . . the classic gesture a nod to Santa’s quiet arrival and the magic that unfolds while children sleep.

🌲 Tips to Extend the Life of Fresh Flower Arrangements
If you’re making an arrangement for holiday entertaining, a little care goes a long way in keeping blooms fresh longer:
🎄Cut stems at a 45-degree angle for maximum water uptake and remove any leaves below the water line.
🎄Always use the flower food packets that come with your flowers to give them their longest vase life. Flower food / floral preservative provides nutrients for your flowers and controls the pH for optimal water uptake, while also reducing bacteria in your vase water.
🎄Top off your water daily, especially with thirsty blooms like hydrangeas and sunflowers.
🎄Change the water every other day and trimming stems if possible.
🎄Spray with Crowning Glory.
If you’re not familiar with Crowning Glory, it’s an antitranspirant spray that seals in moisture and dries clear. It’s safe for all flowers and especially beneficial for flowers that are prone to wilting due to moisture loss, like hydrangeas.
🎄Remove faded or wilting flowers, which release ethylene gas and can shorten the life of nearby blooms.
🎄Keep arrangements away from heat or direct sunlight, including vents, fireplaces, and sunny windows.
These small steps can help your Christmas centerpiece stay merry and bright much longer!

🎄 Table Details: A Santa-Inspired Christmas Setting

To pair with the Santa boot centerpiece, the table is layered with classic red, green, and tartan details:
🎅 Santa salad plates bring instant Ho-Ho-Ho cheer, framed with tartan plaid dinner plates, white chargers, and red beaded placemats for holiday sparkle.

🎅 A Santa belt table runner adds whimsy and contrast, layered over a soft tartan plaid throw used as a cozy, seasonal tablecloth.
🎅 Santa belt napkin rings marry a tartan plaid napkin with a berry-and-greenery print for a merry mix of patterns.

🎅 Ruby goblets cast a warm glow and introduce rich pops of color, reflecting the lights and adding a touch of old-fashioned Christmas charm.

🎅 Down the center of the table, more ornaments as well as pinecones, nestle among fresh evergreens—a mix of cedar, arborvitae, and boxwood cut from the shrubs and trees.

🎅 Loops of Ho Ho Ho ribbon weave through the greenery, with red mercury glass votives twinkling between pinecones.
🎅 And for a sweet ending and treat, Mini Lindt Milk Chocolate Santas and Hershey’s Kisses Santa Hats are tucked among the greenery.
