With its classic Holly Leaf and Berry design, Winterberry Dinnerware by Pfaltzgraff, has been hosting holiday dinners for over 20 years, making it a perennial favorite at the table.

Prior to blogging, I spent half my life in retail. . .put in those terms, that sounds depressing :) Buying inventory involves working six months to a year in advance of the current season so I’m indoctrinated!

Winterberry’s square plates have rounded corners, allowing them to be mixed and matched with round plates that are also available. Chargers are layered~ rattan to marry the jute runner and carved white chargers used before, here, to complement the sculpted lines of the dinnerware.
I cut some greenery to add to an artificial garland for the table, along with some other natural elements~ apples, pine cones, a few nuts to sprinkle in and added a holly and berry burlap ribbon~ helping fill and camouflage some of the less-than-realistic parts of the garland.
Tip:
If you have access to Leland Cypress, it’s an ideal evergreen to use for Christmas decorating. While it doesn’t have the fragrance of pine, fir, or cedar, it also doesn’t leave a sticky, sappy residue behind so it’s perfect for adding to your mantle, stairs, or the table.
Thinking outside the bowl, I elevated a vase, filled with an assortment nuts and candle, for a makeshift hurricane.
Nuts in the shell (available in the produce area of the grocery store) blend with color and texture of the deer. Readily available, nuts are beautiful mixed with fresh cranberries in season to fill vases for Thanksgiving and Christmas decorating, and can be eaten after the holidays are over :)

Mug handles provide makeshift napkin rings~ a ready-made solution if your mugs and guests out number your napkin ring supply!

My first thought was the dinnerware is a timeless classic! Add in plaid (another favorite of mine) and this table is very welcoming and cozy to me, love the deer and nuts too Mary! This is the type of setting I’d like to see in my own home this Christmas:@)
I do not mind Christmas decorations/displays coming early to the stores as I love to get inspiration from them. I usually start decorating by now…but falling far behind this year…The table is just perfect as always Mary…always loved that pattern…
I am smitten with how the Winterberry Dinnerware looks with our wooden chargers ;o) The plaid tablecloth and napkins also caught my eye. I may have to invest in the Winterberry since I already have 12 wooden chargers. We go to NYC for Christmas and don’t host dinner, but the dishes would be nice for a dinner party prior to the holiday. Never too early for me to look, but I don’t decorate for Christmas until I am done serving Thanksgiving dinner.

I love how you paired the holly dishes with the plaid tablecloth and napkins, it brings a warm cozy feel to the white dishes. I also like all the natural elements, the burlap runner adds nice texture. Beautiful table!

It’s not to early for inspiration and instruction. Love what you always do to embellish the faux garlands. Gives us plenty of time to collect what we need. I particularly love the deer and the woven napkin rings. When used with the nuts, pinecones, evergreen sprigs and rattan chargers there’s a natural element added to the table which I love. Great job!
Love the table setting! Where did you get the jute runner? It is a perfect background for the center setting over the plaid table cloth.

I don’t mind seeing Cmas now that it is almost Halloween, but in Aug., no thanks! I have been enjoying watching QVC’s Cmas sales.
I think if I buy another Cmas dish, they will admit me, but I just might add to existing collections.

I was not familiar with Winterberry and have just fallen in love…Seems to be quite versatile and as one commenter said above, she uses it through the Holidays way into February…after all…winter and berries are still around during the whole season…and although appropriate for Christmas, the pattern does not shout Christmas…so I can see using it for the entire season.
I particularly like the contrast of the delicate look of the china with the natural elements you’ve incorporated…and would love to see more of your creations using these same dishes in different settings…

I love the magic you create with your garlands Mary, it is just beautiful with the lovely carved wooden deer! I understand about working seasons ahead, I have been painting Christmas glasses for 2 weeks for store orders. It used to drive my kids crazy! I love seeing this winter table now, gives me time to let ideas “percolate,” and inspire me in the upcoming months~ I love that you used 2 chargers, and staggered the plates. The napkin through the cup handle is such a great touch! Beautiful Christmas table! Bah humbug to any who complain!

I LOVE the combo of the Winterberry with the plaid!!! Thanks for the tip about the leland cypress too! I never knew that so will try to find a source for it for the holidays. As I, too, was in retail we used to start decorating the store for Christmas in August! So, this is not new to me either. It is funny though that now it starts to bother me to see Christmas decor in stores in Aug. or Sept. I must be getting old:):) Gorgeous table once more.

I TOTALLY understand that concept of creating and buying 6-12 months out! It just makes sense to me. Even before I owned a retail shop, it made sense to me. Thinking ahead really pays off! Posting holiday tables early on makes sense to me, too, in that we aim to teach and share. It does no good if we don’t do that in advance of the actual holidays so that people can see, commit to memory and act upon what they’ve absorbed.

I love using nuts in my glass hurricanes ~ sometimes I use a bag of whole coffee beans (the aroma is amazing).
