My favorite candies are chocolate covered strawberries. When my husband proposed to me, he bought a box and hid my engagement ring inside. I have to tell you, I was disappointed to receive the chocolate because he had been hinting that something more significant was coming soon. When I saw the ring box inside (it was red to match the strawberries), I dropped the whole thing and ran out of the room. Not exactly the reaction he expected! That was thirteen years ago and we still laugh about it. Love your blog and I follow via e-mail.

A very beautiful and romantic table!
This is one of my favorite china patterns of all you have shared from Lifetime Brands….I find it so elegant and perfect for not only Christmas and Valentines, but also for a ‘fancy’ Mother’s Day table…
I was wondering not long ago if you got to keep the china sets you featured and I guess by one of your comments above that you do…Lucky you!…even though your china cupboard runneth over every once in a while…
Absolutely inspiring vignettes. You always have tremendous ideas. I love the red, pink, and white peanut M & Ms that are always around this time of year!
My favorite candy is dark chocolate non parriels. Did I spell that right? I love your blog and have followed you for over a year. I seldom enter give a ways, but who could resist?

My favorite has to be “red hots”! With Chocolate being 2nd. You can make so many things with red hots….punch, tea, hot chocolate, pepper jelly, cookies, infuse vodka, fudge, cupcakes, butter cream frosting, add them to “chocolate goodies”…..on and on. We sold our home in July and are building a small lake cottage …so everything is in storage….I’m really missing my dishes, I love setting my table seasonal and especially for Valentines. Gratefully we are staying at my sisters until our new home is built…but I haven’t seen my own personal things since July! So I’m going through withdrawls at the moment :-)! Your blog is helping me through them.
Fabulous dishes! My favorite Valentine candy is chocolate truffles from the local artisan chocolatier. But in a pinch, I’ll definitely not turn down Lindor Dark Chocolate Truffles, or York Peppermint Patties!!
Sadly, I am allergic to chocolate! So I would have to say my favorite Valentine’s candy would have to be conversation hearts! I still buy a box for my kids every Valentine’s. And this year we will be celebrating my son’s engagement on Valentine’s Day!
My favorite Valentine Day candy is in a heart shaped box! Love the whole presentation. It reminds me of my Mom who always gave us a pretty red box with a plastic red rose from the drug store, it still makes me happy!
My favorite Valentine candy is Reese’s Hearts ! Just can’t beat that combination of chocolate and peanut butter – nothing fancy, but mighty yummy to my tummy!
This pattern has been at the top of my list for Christmas!! What a generous giveaway–thank you!
I am still a sucker for Conversation Hearts–it was a big treat for us when we were kids.
I love almost anything chocolate, but Ghiradelli, Lindt truffles and Whitman’s assorted (nice mix of chocolate-covered chewy caramels & soft centers) are my favorites. Thanks for the lovely day-brightener!
As a child my father used to give each of his girls an entire Whitman’s chocolate box. It was a lavished gift as he wasn’t known to be real romantic—but he loved big! My father passed a way last year, the day after Father’s Day. I plan to buy my mom her own box this Valentine’s Day, in honor of their love for our family. I get my love of dishes from my mom whom is very talented in hospitality! Love your blog and wonderful tables capes!

I recently found you on Pinterest and signed up as an email follower and look forward to opening each new posting. LOVE YOUR BLOG! I look forward to it everyday. The beautiful table scapes inspire me to try new things. The recipes are yummy ! My favorite Valentine candy would be the pastel conversation hearts. I have to comment on how we celebrated Valentine Day when I was a child. We would come down to breakfast to a pretty table set with nice dishes and pretty table cloth and napkins. On each plate was a silly Valentine and Mother was at the stove making pancakes in the shape of hearts. The significance of Valentine Day in our family was Mother and Dad meet on a blind date that day. Dad always had a box of candy for Mother. So I really enjoyed this setting!
Hi Mary! As always…I adore this post!! The bright red and gold….BRILLIANT!! I really love Godiva Dark Chocolate! Happy Valentine’s Day and hugs to Chloe and Gracie!! xo Jeanne

I could not help myself but take another look at your beautiful tablescape and suddenly realized since I am an email subscriber I have a second opportunity to comment. Jordan Almonds are still my favorite and are pretty when combined with the pastel conversational hearts.
My all-time favorite candy is homemade fudge with black walnuts, but for Valentine’s iconic conversation hearts are a necessity and for our stay-at-home Valentine’s Day dinner dessert, my husband prepares chocolate fondue with strawberries. I so enjoy your tablescapes, photography, recipes, babies, and talent for staging. I look forward to every new post and frequently return to older ones. This post is lovely–thank you!
Happy Blogaversary! I am so happy I found your blog a few years ago. So beautiful and inspiring, always! What a romantic and elegant tablescape. Makes one want to put on that little black dress or maybe red would be more appropriate. Favorite candy? That’s tough for a lover of chocolate! First place has to go to my mother’s homemade fudge with pecans, but Lindt truffles and Godiva dark chocolate are honorable mentions, MOST DEFINITELY!! Happy Valentine’s Day planning! ❤️
Sherry

My goodness, five wonderful years of creating the prettiest tablescapes in blogland. Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary! The red and gold pattern in the china is very pretty and would be a lovely addition to anyone’s china cabinet. Right about now the Lindt truffles are sounding very good to me for Valentine’s Day (especially since I happen to have a few left from Christmas calling to me from the kitchen). I am a lifelong Louisiana girl and I love Elmer’ s gold brick hearts and their heavenly-hash hearts. We lived in “the country” so my dear Aunt Lola who lived in “the city aka New Orleans” used to send us candy for different holidays. These were not only delicious, but a real treat because our country stores were small and carried a very limited inventory. My second favorite would be conversation hearts. They are so cute and a girl of any age loves to dream about sentiments from her sweetheart.
Happy blogaversary!! Your fun and inspiring site has given me the inspiration to try many new tablescapes and recipes. I appreciate how you use the same tableware and make it look different by changing other elements, and sharing tasty, elegant treats making them simple by using shortcuts and adding surprise ingredients, motivates me to do them.
I like to have a couple friends over for a valentines lunch, since a couple of them are widowed now. Lifelong friends are sweethearts also!!
This year I’m doing the chocolate cup idea you posted, substituting with “my favorite chocolate cupcakes,” filled with whipped cream infused with raspberry liquor, and topped with strawberries and chocolate drizzle.
Happy VTD to you and yours, (and the two little sweethearts with fur on).
Love, love, love your Mikasa Parchment Rouge tablescape…..will you be my Valentine? While I would be thrilled to receive your generous gift, I do have a set of Mikasa Countryside I can use. If the heavens opened wide and poured out your blessings to me, I would like you to send Brenda the set (she posted she had no fancy dishes-1/16/15). I’ll comfort myself with some creamy homemade chocolate fudge. May I send you some, if there are any left? Your tablescape pictures are a pure joy to behold. Thank you.

When I saw the ring box inside (it was red to match the strawberries), I dropped the whole thing and ran out of the room. Not exactly the reaction he expected!

Usually I read all of the comments that have already been left for a post before I leave my comment, but I think today I will forgo that pleasure because of the huge response you have received for this marvelous give away.
Jordan almonds are a favorite. Love your blog and have enjoyed it for a long while. Many thanks and happy anniversary
Thank you.
