I hope you had a Merry Christmas and are enjoying the holidays with your family and loved ones! We’re enjoying the glow and twinkle of the Christmas tree lights through New Year’s Day, so I set a table by the tree for some holiday dining.
An appliqued and embroidered owl runner provided the inspiration for this Happy Owl-idays table, layered over a tartan throw as a tablecloth.
Better Home & Garden Owl plates found at Walmart several years ago, flew in for this Happy Owl-idays table, also making an appearance at a Happy Owl-oween table and celebration.
They’re nesting on plaid tidings plates and wreathed with woodland beaded placemats found at Kohl’s at 60% off, with an additional 30% savings with a coupon.
An assortment of owl ornaments, collected over the years, flew in to gather at the table in bowls and vases.
They’re nesting among the greenery and fruit from my centerpiece for my St. Nicholas Christmas Table from last week.
Owl gift tags offer Christmas and Season’s greetings.
Owl napkin rings are layered with beaded wreath napkin rings with an accent of plaid ribbon and paisley patterned napkins are paired with a tartan print.

I love the owl table runner against the plaid throw. Your imagination knows no bounds. I too leave my decorations up through New Year’s Eve and then hate taking them down. But this year a grinch has inhabitated our lights. The tree is now missing two areas of lights, the lights on the stair railing went out and there is a missing link of lights outside on the eves of the house. It looks like we will be getting a lot if new lights for next year. Happy New Year. Looking forward to your posts in the coming year.

This is a wonderful winter table Mary, I’m so glad you brought your owls to the table for some holiday fun! Love all the citrus and sparkle! We were sunny and 80 yesterday in Birmingham, and running the AC, not very Christmas like, but at least the kids could play outside. Mary, this Chi O loves seeing this beautiful Owl-idays table. I have a wonderful MacKenzie Childs owl ornament my husband put in my stocking many years ago and a few others. I love the idea of using them as details on a table. I’m going to pin this idea. You are always thinking about clever ways to use what you have. The new beaded placemats were a great find. I need to find a local Kohls and make a point to shop. It has never been on my radar. ;-)

We leave our trees and decorations up until the 12th night. Then things are put away for the next year. I love Christmas and all that goes along with it…so I drag it out as long as possible. :)
Mary, what an owlishous tablescape. I had to send link to my daughter who has a parliament of beautiful owls. We leave our decorations up until the feast of the Epiphany. A blessing that has come with my immobility is that I have been able to really enjoy my beautiful Christmas decore. I sit or lie here loving my tree, mantle and nativity display. Whooooo would have ever thought to add in owls with Christmas plaids? Only YOUUUUUU Mary! And how sweet it is. I leave up the Christmas tree through Epiphany, but my dining room tree stays up year round and I love it. I leave my mantle decorated in greens and red winter berries and white lights all through winter to help keep away the long blah winter days. There is NOTHING better than to sit with just the lights and the light of the fire and the sound of the crackling wood. It is so relaxing. AND of course reading your blog! Keep it coming Mary!! Your owl ornaments are gorgeous, and the pinecones, too. They look so right used together like this. I only have one owl ornament, so I’m envious! I have bookmarked so many of your tablescapes – this is one of my favorites. Owls, tartans, and Christmas; pure bliss.

The owl families are great !! They remind me so much of my first college roommate who was a Chi Omego. She was a lovely young lady and I miss her as we lost touch a good many years ago when I changed jobs. I will attempt to get in touch with her soon. I enjoy all of your posts and especially enjoy Chloe & Gracie. I am looking for a cake recipe that you posted last year or so. It was a Bundt with Apple slices land a caramel icing/glaze. Hi Ashley, You can find the Easy Caramel Apple Spice Cake recipe here, it’s not a bundt cake though. Cranberry Apple Pumpkin Bundt Cake is another good recipe but it’s not as quick and easy :)

Mary, love the owls, and really all of your wonderful tablescapes! Wanted to let you know that I made a version of your Potato Gratin with Rosemary Crust recipe, omitting the crust and just using a casserole dish. Added the rosemary straight into the potatoes. Served it with Christmas Eve dinner, and everyone loved it, even DH who doesn’t like anything too complicated or fussy, and rarely comments on food. Thanks again for all your great ideas!

Mary, Ever since my son (25 now) was a baby he has been an owl addict, and we always have a few perched around here, especially at Christmastime. I LOVE this table and your collection!
