Whimsical Winter Owl Table

I’ve been doing a little winter nesting this month and set a cozy table for two by our Winter Nesting Tree.

The lights and sparkle of the tree help make the transition from Christmas to winter easier and makes the house a little cozier and brighter. The tree is decorated with sparkling snowflakes, icy branches and pine cones, nesting birds and glittery bird nests. You can see more of the ornaments and tree, HERE.

Owls flew in for a little winter nesting. These owl ornaments are a fun little craft project for a cold winter day and a hoot to make!

You see the details to make your own, here.

Owl plates flew to roost at the table layered on snowy white embossed plates and rattan woven chargers. . .

And a plaid throw provides a cozy tablecloth for a cold winter day.

Owl napkin rings hold fringed napkins and join twig flatware. . .

And an owl bowl serves up a winter nest.

Mercury glass votives add some sparkle and shimmer and join glittery nests, pine cones, sprigs of greenery and owl ornaments, nesting as a centerpiece for the table.

    Hi, Mary,

I love all your tablescapes, and this one is particularly fun. Your winter nesting tree nearby really pulls it all together. Plus, it looks beautiful! One thing I’m wondering is whether you gave the correct information about the square rattan chargers. I’ve never seen those at Pier 1, but World Market carries them in both round and square styles.

Your tablescapes are just stunning! I so miss having a dining room. Style my mantle and coffee table in lieu of a dining table. Your photography is excellent, love how you show all the beautiful details. Always a pleasure! Thanks for sharing. ❤

Adorable and so fun for winter Mary! Next year I’m following your lead and putting up a winter tree. I have a year to find some beautiful snowflake and bird ornaments to add to some silver and gold I already have. Those owls are too cute!

I just love your sparkly tree and cozy table, Mary! Those owl dishes are so pretty, and the twig flatware is so perfect on the throw. The little nest in the owl bowl is just adorable. I love how you keep enjoying the glow of twinkling lights in dreary January. xo

This is so beautiful. I am coveting those square chargers. Sad that it is an old item! I need to shop more I guess.

Thanks Cynthia, The chargers are still available, they came from World Market. They’re referred to as Square Madras Chargers: https://bit.ly/2RUGkAD

Hoot, Hoot! I want to fly in and sit across from you at this lovely setting. Your details from the tree to the table are fluffing my feathers! 🦉 Seriously, Mary, this post is full of charm! I’m sharing it with a friend who puts up a woodland tree. Enjoy your cozy winter home.

Mary – How do you store your dishes and such? I have been collecting dishes for about 25 years. Some are antique/vintage – I have about 72 sets (insert embarrassed face here). For a long time I had everything stored away and everytime I wanted to tablescape it was a chore to find things. A few years ago I decided that I wanted to be able to enjoy and use what I have. I wanted to be able to just go to where it was and pull it; so I invested in Ikea Cubby Walls. This created what I call my two great walls of China. While they are very organized – I feel like my house looks like a William Sonoma store. Any suggestions or insight would be appreciated. Please don’t suggest counseling – LOL.

I’m jealous of your 72 sets..if I had the room, I’d have that many and more…I only have about 8 sets..some I have just 4 of because I know I won’t be using them but just for hubby and I and for tablescapes..you are very lucky and I wouldn’t insert an embarrassed face at all! ❤️❤️❤️

Mary, you are really getting me hooked on owls and this whole winter tree idea!

When I see pictures like this, I think you need your own magazine. Or at the very least a spot on a HGTV show!

I am enjoying the continuation of your “owl” winter theme! This tablescape is especially delightful and fun! I love the plaid blanket for the table cover…the grey-white colors and fuzzy texture bring such a feeling of softness and warmth. Simply wonderful! Thank You!

What a great idea to warm up the dull days and dark evenings after the holidays leave us. I think next year I will have to have a little nesting tree to transition us into spring.
    Thanks for the inspiration.

Mary, what a darling table to go with your winter tree! I’m already planning my spring fling!! My fairy gardens and the luncheon I have in June….can’t wait!! Big storm and frigid cold coming our way this weekend …you may get some of it but you’ll have your cozy nest to deal with it!! Stay warm!! Happy nesting! ❤️🦉🦉🦉🦉

Love it! The perfect transition from Christmas (but still) want the “cozy” winter brings.

Looks nice and cozy Mary! Lovin’ the loose glittery streamers/garland on the tree:@)
    PS-It’s snowing here right now!

This is so cute Mary! Love the owls and the dish stack. The plaid throw adds such a nice cozy affect and I love the center arrangment. We have plenty of snow outside so embracing the season is unavoidable! Might as well make it fun as you did since it’s not going away anytime soon!
