Happy Tuesday!
In anticipation of fall’s arrival, I’m part of ‘Welcome Fall’ Tablescape Blog Hop!
You can find fall table inspiration from 20 table stylists at the bottom of this post.
Fall is my favorite season and I’m ready for apple orchards, hot cider,
harvest feasts, hay rides, pumpkin patches and corn mazes!

And when the calendar page turns to September,
I’m falling for apples!

Anyone ready for apple picking?!
While fall officially arrives in two weeks, Mother Nature still
has plenty of summer weather in store for us in North Carolina,
typically well into October.

A farmhouse plaid tablecloth provides a cheery foundation for the table,
blending the colors of summer and fall. . . the
brighter color palette fitting for our 90 degree days.

Robert Sprays by Wedgwood floral plates were a favorite antique mall find several years ago.
The delicate sprays and muted color palette of the flowers,
reminiscent of the waning summer blooms in the garden.

They’re served up on assorted harvest plaid dinner plates and framed with wood
chargers atop burnished copper chargers to add texture and interest.

Bright hammered copper flatware joins burnished
copper napkin rings for a blending of the seasons. . .

And floral print napkins are married with farmhouse plaid.

Apples are at each place setting as well as in the centerpiece.

To create the centerpiece and for quick and easy flower arranging,
I used acrylic cups as mini vases, adding them to a burnished copper container.

Plastic grocery bags help keep the cups from shifting and in place
once they’re filled with water and flowers.

Mums, alstroemeria and sunflowers from the grocery store join
Limelight Hydrangeas from the garden that have begun their fall metamorphosis.

No flower arranging skills required for this easy flower arranging method! The large hydrangeas,
sunflowers and mums help to conceal the cups within the container.
The individual cups also make it easy to change your water and replace faded flowers
so you can get more life out of your arrangement.

Apples were added to the arrangement with bamboo skewers.
Place your skewered apples in between the vases to help fill in the gaps.
Insert your skewers into the blossom end of the apple, about an inch into the core.
As the bamboo skewers are food safe, the apples can used
for fall baking after the flowers are faded.

Mary, I love love your burnished copper container for your centerpiece. And thanks for the tutorial on how to use cups for vases nestled among plastic bags for stability. The sunflowers, limelights, alstroemeria, mums and apple combination bring all your colors to the next level. Your cheerful plaid tablecloth with floral napkins, copper cutlery, copper mules and the repetition of plaid in your plate stack is great but then you add another interest with the floral plate and cute apple plate including a real apple!
Your beautiful fall tablescape gets me in the mood for real fall weather!
Mary, this is another great table design for a fall transition. I love how you paired the floral napkins and plates and tied into your plaids on this table. That overhead shot of the apple on apple side dish on the stack is spectacular to focus on and entice with all the layers slightly out of focus beneath. The double charger has the exact impact you were going for – texture and MORE interest (there’s always so much interest on your tables!). The copper elements are a welcome visual for fall, and your collection there is well chosen. Your flower arrangements are the best, and that little model you have in the apple orchard is sure a cutie. Love being in your company on these hops.
Mary, the burnished copper container is lovely filled with apples, alstroemeria, sunflowers, mums, and hydrangeas. I love the ease of using small glasses for flower arranging. The plaid tablecloth and floral napkins are paired perfectly together, I am a fan of mixing patterns. The plate stack is full of autumn color and textures, I don’t remember seeing the pretty Wedgwood floral plates before. The small apple plate on top is perfect.
I enjoy hopping with you…have a lovely Tuesday!
Mary your table is wonderful! I love the apples in the arrangement, and what a great idea to use the cups and plastic bags! I’ve always been inspired by your tablescapes and this one is no exception! Thanks and Happy Almost Fall!
This is sheer delight Mary, apples are the perfect symbol for fall, they immediately bring back to school to mind, plus fresh apple cider, caramel apples and fall fun! You are so smart to create that beautiful arrangement using plastic cups and the apples on the picks really make a statement. The flower combo is so pretty with bright sunflowers, fading limelights, alstromeria, and mums. The copper flatware and mugs look great with the plaid tablecloth, chargers and cute apple plates! I think I’ll have an apple for breakfast! Happy fall Mary!
