Memorial Day: Remembering and Honoring Those Who Gave All ©homeiswheretheboatis.net

While Memorial Day is the unofficial kick off to summer in the U.S.,

it’s a day set aside to honor those men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice

for our country, defending our freedom and democracy.

Mary, thank you for sharing your beautiful images and this collection of quotes. Each one resonates! It’s a humid, gray day here. I’m hoping for a good rain. We certainly need rain. All the best, my friend!

Thank you for this column-I am a former Army wife [26 years] but consider myself to be an Army wife until the day I die. It can be very hard and always so challenging but is so rewarding in so many ways-I don’t regret a single day of it, a single sacrifice, and never will. Thank you to everyone for the comments you made in relation to Marys’ column, which was superb. Barbara

What a nice selection of quotes for Memorial Day!
I made your Red, White, and Blue slab pie for a family picnic today. It was a big hit. Instead of cream cheese I used vanilla pudding made with 1 1/2 cups milk, a cup of Cool Whip, and a cup of lemon curd. It was delicious and looked so festive. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks, Mary, for your beautiful quotes — and pictures! We are Canadians but have spent six months out of the year, for sixteen years, on South Padre Island and just love all our precious American friends that we keep in touch with. We love the USA and it will always hold a very special place in our hearts.
