In a Gardening state-of-mind, I’m on the porch enjoying the Season with a few things that make me happy~
A simple Christmas table~ ideal for our casual living at the Lake.
A promise of a flower in an Amaryllis bulb, a few collected watering cans . . .
. . . and a couple of vintage trowels, showing the visible signs of use & hours of happy work~ one red & one green~ the perfect colors for the season!
Little watering can ornaments are filled with bits of Cedar & Leyland Cypress and sprinkled at each place setting.
A favorite decorative birdhouse, made with recycled materials~ a vintage glass door knob, old hardware & barn wood~ has a starring role for the Season with its iron finial church steeple & tin-fashioned cross.
The birds will enjoy a gift of seed decorated houses. Purchased from a garden center, these edible bird treats would make a fun (if messy :) project for kids using a cardboard/milk carton house base, coated with peanut butter & decorated with seeds, raisins, cereal (Cheerios, Chex). . .anything that birds can feast on!
My urn, that has hosted tomatoes & pumpkins at the table, is supporting a grapevine wreath with faux berries and a pine cone laden tree.
A found bird’s nest is back at the table this week, filled with blown quail eggs, a feather, and embellished with a bit of lichen~
A few Paperwhite bulbs are waiting to be planted and their fragrance enjoyed~
Wishing you the simple pleasures of
Nesting & Feasting this Holiday Season!

Mary, Love your table. It’s a lovely place to sit with friends and family. The darling bird feeders are so sweet. I can remember making some like that when I was a little girl at my grandmother’s.. thanks for bringing the memories back.. xo marlis
Que o bom DEUS lhe abençoe sempre para que sua arte e criatividade nos sirva de inspiração. Boa semana, amiga
This is such a fun table! The bird treats are adorable. I love the rustic birdhouse and the arrangement you have created in the planter. The watering cans are such a sweet and whimsical touch on the plate stack. White plates are such fun to accent! I also love the quilt upon which you have built this ‘scape.
Oh I love this! You really created an adorable setting. I love the gardening and bird elements- too cute!
Dear Mary ,
It has always been a delight visiting you .The wonderful bright colors of your photos have always elevated the mood .Your creativity is endless …
I wish you a joyous, gentle season !
Yet another beautiful, peaceful visit. The tv can be blaring but my concentration is so great I hear nothing but quiet. Lucky birds, too!
I’d love to join you at this table on the porch with the view of the water. The gardening theme and that red and white quilt are calling to me. ;-)
I planted my amaryllis bulbs last week.
Mary, this table is darling! LOVE the little bird houses. What a clever/refreshing tablesetting. I have so missed all my favorite bloggy buddies the last few weeks. WOW have they been busy! So glad to be back to visit you. Off to view the next post. HUGS!

What wonderful gifts for your birds!
Just the sort of Christmas that appeals to me. :)
Hi Mary!
Just to let you know, there is something wrong with your posts coming to me via email…they are totally blank! Only grey background & no text or photos! Strange, huh?? Wish I knew how to fix it. I wonder if others are having the same issue?
I had to come see what you had posted though & as always, I’m not disappointed. This rustic table is just lush with texture & contrast & such CUTE little touches…♥ those tiny watering cans! Great job on every inch of it.
Hugs,
Rett
I love your tablescape. I usually wait a little closer to Christmas, and I fill the house with fresh greenery and flowers. I am not big on Christmas decorations that are not natural.
I love the little watering cans and bird seed ornaments. What sweet additions to your table!
How wonderful that you can still be outside at this time of year. Here at 4,000 feet in the mountains we are pretty much indoors and in front of the fireplace. What a great Christmas themed table. Love the tall bird house church and the teasing of Spring on it’s way with the bulbs starting to sprout. Just know that the birds in your area are going to love all the seeds.
HI Mary! I am so glad I didn’t miss this!!! I love your gardeners Christmas table!!! Your merchandising talents SHINE with every single table! Love the little watering cans and the pinecone tree! SO pretty! Love it all!! XO, Pinky

Oh I love your gardeners table. Gardening is my first love! Your vintage hand tools are precious. My Amaryllis and paperwhites are just about to bloom. Can;t wait to see the festive red and white. I especially love your urn. I have been wanting to buy a few, darn those babies are pricey. How cute is your stocking shaped bird feeder. Might have to give that one a whirl. So sweet!
What a wonderful gardener’s table! I so love our sweet little feathered friends and when I saw your table I melted. Fabulous! For many years now I have loved including the natural look of Christmas and your table is perfect.
Besides my indoor tree I put up a small “Charlie Brown” type tree outside and put “decorations” the birds can feast on. So you can imagine my love of tis post. Thank you for sharing this wonderful creative table.
Adorable birdhouses and watering cans….beautiful gardener’s table….
When I lived in SC, we had a couple of pine trees that produced huge pine cones and besides using them for decorations we would dab peanut butter all over them and cover them with seeds and hang with mono filament fishing line from the trees surrounding our terrace….It was fun to host the birds and even some squirrels that dared slide down the fishing line to get to the goodies…
And once again, I am completed enchanted by what you do. The table is just wonderful, and I love those bird houses all covered with treats. I actually have some extra small bird houses. I wonder if I could do it with them.
Love the lake in the background your porch is beautiful…. visiting from At the picket fence….
Nothing short of dreamy! I was mesmerized with your beautiful setting, porch, and decorations . . .

Everything looks beautiful to this gardener! I love those cute little watering pails and the birdseed stocking is adorable.
You always have something so amazing and so charming and when I look at the detail that you put into every post, I am just blown away. Those are the most charming birdhouses ever! I just adore them and know the birds will too. Your weather looks lovely too. From your little bags to your tools and your pot, everything is as usual, picture perfect!
And a gorgeous gardener’s Christmas it is, Mary! I love it!
This is such and earthy, natural table setting…I love it and more importantly our feathered friends will love it too!
Love your blog!
Every post of yours is a delight for me. I could spend an hour thinking through each one. I wish for you often …to tell me what to do with my tables because I need some fresh ideas as mine is overwhelming… Seating 10-12 for Christmas dinner! You should have a show on HGTV. Remember one of the first shows that a lady did tablescaping. Wish I could remember the name of the program. The first shows they had were exceptional. Savior Faire was another one that I can remember the name that I liked.
Wonder winter theme with those darling and practical birdseed houses and stocking. Great urn and pine cone tree with berry wreath. LOVE that!
Beautiful table and such a great idea! I didn’t get beyond 2 pictures before I started pinning! LOVE.
Your table is beautiful. I really like the Pine Cone tree. We used to have pine trees in our yard with an abundance of pine cones and I never thought to decorate with them. But now that we don’t have a single pine tree near by, that is all I want to use to decorate with…go figure! Thank you for sharing your beautiful table.
A bulb at Christmas is always so beautiful…new life. andrea@townandprairie
Mary, I know I sit and smile the whole time I read your posts!! Beautiful! Love your urn with the pinecone tree and wreath. I hope my amaryllis is soon looking like yours, with tips of new life poking up!!
You are living the dream. Great table with old hardware & barn wood in a starring role. Thanks for posting. ~CJ

A very pretty and clever table. Love those seeded birdhouses!
What a unique and beautiful theme!!!!!!! I’m going to direct my Mom’s attention to this post. She is a (amateur) bird watcher and does all kinds of things to attract them to her sight line. This would be a neat way to decorated a tree in her yard and get all the birds she can handle!!!! The table is gorgeous, and I really like the centerpiece!!! Beautiful!!!
This is great. It’s so unique. I’m so glad that you brought this to Seasonal Sundays.
