With Thanksgiving just a few weeks away, I’m happy to be part of Thanksgiving Tablescape Blog Hop.

I love using natural elements as a centerpiece for the table.
Our Thanksgiving feast is traditionally served buffet-style on the kitchen island.
As we don’t need room on the table for platters of food,
there is plenty of room for a centerpiece!
I used a favorite and easy method for creating a table centerpiece / table runner. I gathered some pumpkins, Indian corn, magnolia pods, nuts and dried maiden grass plumes to add a soft note.
There are no rules other than keeping your elements low enough to see over
so as not interfere with conversation while dining and arranging your elements
so they’re pleasing to the eye.
It’s also very affordable when using natural material from your yard, such as grasses and magnolia pods, paired with Indian corn, pumpkins and nuts from the farmers market or grocery store.
Select and customize your elements to coordinate with your table linens or dinnerware. . .
Items from the produce department, such as pears, pomegranates and artichokes,
can be added to your table runner, as seen, HERE, or make a simple centerpiece
using pumpkins and oak leaves from your yard, HERE.
I set a table on the porch and we’re enjoying some beautiful fall weather this week, with sunny skies and highs in the 70s. We’re fortunate that our weather in November is typically mild in North Carolina, even on Thanksgiving day.
Breaking away from the traditional warm harvest shades associated with Thanksgiving, I used a tablecloth singing the softer notes of fall, with beiges, blues and sage green. I purchased it at HomeGoods last year not knowing how I would use it, but it was affordably priced and thought it make a pretty foundation for a fall table.
A little table serendity as it turns out, as the blue pairs with clouds on the background of
Royal Stafford Thanksgiving Turkey Plates, and coordinated with the acorn and oak leaf border.
Bone-handled flatware adds a warm texure to the table, along with willow chargers,
which frame white scalloped charger plates.
Napkin rings are ready for family to gather at the table, marrying print and herringbone-fringed napkins.
While amber glasses add a warm glow to the table.

Mary, I love the soft colors in your fall leaves tablecloth! The beiges, blues, and sage green provide a lovely foundation for your natural elements centerpiece. The textures of the magnolia pods, nuts, indian corn and dried maiden grass plumes topped with assorted sizes of pumpkins make an attractive centerpiece. Royal Stafford turkey plates with the touch of blue are perfect atop the rattan and white charters. You do texture so well. The amber glasses, bone-handled flatware, and print napkins complete your look beautifully. The more I look at the Royal Stafford plates I see new charming details.
I enjoyed your table and my favorite pic is looking the length of the table and seeing the fall color of the trees slightly blurred in the background. The light is delightful and the warm glow of the amber goblets are lovely.

I think it’s amazing how a tablecloth can evolve into an entirely unique look for Thanksgiving, which we most often associate with browns, golds, oranges and bits of green. The blue is definitely a colorway that creates the softer side, and I love it. The amber goblets are like little rays of sun going down the table, meeting up with their source outside. That’s gorgeous! Those maiden grass plumes work so well to send the message of soft. Wonderful table, Mary, and it looks so inviting as you look out onto the lakeside. I have to admit that gathering naturals again is something I look forward to, at least for decor. ;) Thank you for always bringing consistent style to the table. Your soft color palette is lovely Mary, the touch of blue from the tablecloth picked up with the beautiful turkey plates is wonderful. The center runner of white pumpkins and natural elements is so pretty and thrifty too! The bone handled flatware and willow chargers are perfect with all the other natural elements and feel of your table. The gold goblets really bring it all together with a gorgeous pop of color and warmth~a feast for the eyes!

The maiden grass plume! I LOVE that to soften the look! It’s so beautiful as it dances in the wind outside. Why not bring it in to create a little understated drama on the table!? The tablecloth is beautiful and a perfect departure from the deeper colors we often associate with Thanksgiving. You are so blessed to be able to actually eat outdoors on Thanksgiving. Missouri is not so forgiving when it comes to late November temperatures! I absolutely love your bone-handled flatware! Love the maiden hair. I have used it in flower arrangements but find after a day or so, it starts to shed. Do you spray yours with something to maintain the plumes? Thank you….

I like natural elements for our table, so I may need to search out the bone handled flatware. Even if I just had two place settings!
One of my favorite detail to bring out in autumn and winter is my group of horn votives. Gumps sold these years ago, and I’m happy I ordered a set because I use them every year from October to February.

Oh my, those recipes! I’d like to make the pumpkin butter as gifts for my coworkers and then the pumpkin loaf for dessert on my Thanksgiving table.
A favorite Thanksgiving tradition is my mother’s jello mold. She’s been gone many years, but my brother and I reenact for our family her remembering when the meal was half over, “Oh no! The mold!!” How I miss her.

I have the same plates and was curious about the different labels on the bottom of them, also. The centerpiece of natural elements is just right for the table, and so nice that it carries the theme down the table like it does. The centerpiece really does carry through that “softer” look. I am off to see if I can find some amber stemware like you have, that is one thing I have been hunting down for awhile now and yet to find what I like at a price I like.
