Happy Monday!
By the time September arrives, the Skeleton Crew is ready to come out of their stuffy closet.
Meet Grace Skelly, Rod and Rowena’s adopted daughter.
Grace Skelly was tickled pink to be adopted into this loving family!

Rod and Rowena are thrilled to have a daughter with such a sweet disposition, as well as a lovely rosy complexion and such long eyelashes!

Grace Skelly is quiet and shy; Rod wishes she wasn’t quite so tight-lipped, but Rowena is sure that she’ll open up.

Spending time with their pups, Bona Lisa and Bone-ita, has been good therapy for her.

The Skeleton Crew is gearing up for their favorite season. . .
not Halloween, but Football Season and the return of Sunday Funday! 🏈

They spent most of Saturday watching college football by the fireplace, to warm up their bones!

Rod’s love of football began when he played for Princeton against Rutgers, in what’s considered to be the first American football game, in November of 1869. Back then, football was more of a cross between soccer and rugby. He remembers how violent and deadly the sport was in the early 1900s, until protective gear was required and the rules were changed.
Thinking about his Rotator Cuff and Hip Replacement Surgery makes him shudder, and he thanks his lucky stars he wasn’t seriously injured in those early years of football!

Rod and Rowena are Carolina Panther fans.
While the Carolina Panthers are a relatively young franchise, Rod & Rowena are easily their oldest fans!

Rowena is wearing her favorite Panther pom pom earrings and scarf for Sunday Funday.

She picked up a bracelet that Grace Skelly is wearing as a necklace, so she could share their team spirit!

She also picked up a few snacks for them all to enjoy while watching the game. . .
Utz Tailgate Game Day Football Snack Party Mix

and Little Debbie Football Brownies.

Rod says football, snacks and a cold beverage go hand-in-hand.

Rowena worries that Rod can’t keep any weight on, she always makes sure he has plenty to snack on.

Rowena says you can find a line up of favorite Winning Game Day Recipes
for football season or your next tailgate . . .
Including recipes for Pigskin Potato Skins, Buffalo Chicken Pasta Salad,
Slow Cooker Sweet & Sticky Wings, Buffalo Meatballs, Football Cake Pops and more!
🏈 🏈 🏈

The Skeleton Crew says to be sure and come back on Thursday, for
‘Home is Where the Broom Is’ 12th Annual Halloween Giveaway.

You outdid yourself this year! So creative, especially with the comments.
Love the game day recipes !
Happy Monday, you sure made my day
Hilarious! Welcome to the family, Grace.
I love Rod and Rowena’s adopted daughter Grace Skelly, so happy for them! All your comments are to die for…….
Grace is adorable and I am so excited that Rod and Rowena are here for us to enjoy! I am a huge football fan ( Penn State college and Ravens pro but after last nights meltdown not sure my 70 year old heart can watch them! 🤪). I am from PA and grew up about 20 miles from the Utz plant so this post made me smile over and over again! Saved a lot of recipes and added ingredients to grocery list….lots of Saturdays and Sundays will include some good eating time! As always thanks for sharing your creativity!
Your imagination, creativity and attention to detail never cease to amaze me! Grace (S)kelly-how fun! Don’t ever stop with any of your posts as Halloween, tablescapes, tea, etc would never be the same! There has never been a single post that I haven’t enjoyed.
Mary, yea for football season! So great to read about the Skeleton Crew, started my day off with a chuckle – much needed! Thanks for all the great recipes, I’m an 🦅 fan. Hoping for another great season!
Another winner Mary…I have the same “crew” (minus Grace Skelly and the pups) still dressed in their football/basketball gear from last year…I usually set them out in the foyer to greet guests. Your creative Rod and Rowena are always a welcome sight. I wish my two would take a little more interest and wear something creative rather than their same old gear. LOL Have a great week. Kari @ Me and My Captain
What a fun post!!! It’s always a hoot to see what Rod and Rowena are up to!!! I am a huge Ohio State fan – which balances out the fact that the Browns are my NFL team😫. I wonder if you ever borrow Rowena’s fun Panther Pom Pom earrings!! Good luck this season!!
😂 Grace Skelly is in for a lot of fun with her new family! I’m sure Rod & Rowena will have many adventures with her! Love the jewelry and that she is “tight lipped!” 😂

Oh my gosh I am ALL SMILES with this post. SOOOO CUTE!!! And so is Grace Skelly! How adorable is she??!!!!
What a great way to begin my week – this brought me such joy, Mary. Thank you.
You never disappoint, Mary. And for this Halloween obsessed follower I get giddy when this time of the year rolls around looking forward to your posts. You are the reason I have my own “Rod” who we leave out year round at our second home. Yes we do! I got him years ago after seeing one of your skeleton posts. You inspired me. And my Rod gets gussied up for every holiday, too. His family has also REALLY grown over time and now includes Rodwena, Little Roddy, Boom Boom, Pearl, Mooey, Hush Puppy, Marigold, Chip, Dale, and Chuck. Not all are of the skeleton crew variety but they are all dearly loved just the same. And along with Rod, they all get festive in cute hats, scarfs, and such for every holiday, too. They are a motley but happy crew and I thank you for them!
Mary, what a fun day for the skeleton crew!
It’s definitely football weather and your tailgate recipes look delicious. Pinning away!!
Thank you for sharing the addition to the family with us!
I’m not much for football or Halloween, but it’s always enjoyable to see what your skeleton family gets up to in the autumn. Thanks for the smiles.
The Skelly crew looks like a happy bunch with Grace being adopted by Rod and Rowena. Does Grace have any idea how lucky she is to join this Skelly Family…treats, football, etc?!
I know how much you love Halloween, Mary! I can’t wait to see the skelly antics!!

Oh Mary! You are the BEST! Many thanks for the giggles and fun ideas!!
Did you make Grace Skelley,or did you buy her,I love it,So different, and Halloween ready
Hi Sandra, She was adopted from HomeGoods 💀
What a pleasure to meet Grace Skelly! She is no doubt going to be treated like the princess she is! I’m not a football fan, but have lots of friends who are. I’m going to share your blog post. The snacks and brownies are so clever! I recently added the new MKC Ginger Check pieces to my cupboards. A little treat to myself. Rusty orange is a favorite color and also the color of UT @ Austin. Since I graduated from UT, I felt it was meant to be even if I don’t get excited about football season. Happy Autumn. Glad the skelton crew is out of the closet.
Mary, I adore the skeleton crew and all their antics. I laughed so hard when I saw the new addition, Grace Skelly – how clever, and so lovely for Rod and Rowena. Welcome Grace! Love your humor and and I hope y’all enjoy a wonderful football season!
Congratulations to Rod and Rowena in adding Grace Skelly to their family. She’s so adorable and I’m sure she’ll add to all the Halloween fun. I’m particularly impressed with the football snack mix, that Little Debbie’s and all the recipes. Looking forward to all your Halloween fun with your crew!
Mary, your creativity never ceases to amaze me. Were you a writer/journalist/novelist? Thanks for the chuckles!
Welcome Grace Skelly! You are adorable and so lucky to be adopted into the family!!
I’m a huge Halloween fan and a UGA supporter – lots to look forward to this time of year!
Mary, you really should write a children’s Halloween book to introduce the skeleton family you have created.
The book Home Again arrived today, thank you so much Mary. It is full of beautiful homes and inspirational ideas. Thanks for sharing your creativity and for offering so many fun giveaways!
Always happy to see Rod and Rowena because it means Halloween is near! Love the new addition… Welcome Grace!
Mary, congrats to Rod and Rowena for adopting Grace Skelly. Such a fun crew. Your football menu looks delicious.
I love this so much! 🖤💀
