Raise a cup in honor of ‘Moms’ and celebrate Mother’s Day with an aromatic floral tea blend. You’ll find floral and table inspiration, as well as an easy recipe for Lemon-Blueberry Scones, that start with a box of cake mix.

Happy Monday!
It’s one of my favorite days of the month when I join my
Monday Morning Blooms’ friends to share some flower therapy.

We’re excited to welcome back
Shannon at Belle Bleu Interiors,
joining us as a guest ‘bloomer’ today.

You can my bloggings friends’ links to their beautiful floral and table inspiration at the bottom of this post.

We’re celebrating Mother’s Day for May’s edition of Monday Morning Blooms,
which falls on May 12th year.

I’m raising a cup in honor of ‘Moms’ everywhere with
Harney and Sons Mother’s Day Tea.
It’s an aromatic floral tea blend made with rose petals, chamomile,
cornflowers, orange peel and natural orange flavor that’s caffeine-free,
so you can drink it anytime of day!
It’s perfect for my mom who only drinks caffeine-free tea,
unlike myself who needs a daily caffeine IV drip. ;)

I set a table to enjoy the lake view and sunshine!
A Laura Ashley tablecloth with cheery yellow and blue and white floral print squares
provides a foundation for the table.
It reminded me of my mom when I saw it, who loves blue and white
and has accents of cheery yellow in her family room.

A vintage ironstone pitcher provides a centerpiece for the table.
It holds an arrangement of grocery store flowers. . .

Yellow daisies, Asiatic lilies, sunflowers,
hydrangeas, spray roses and Solidago (goldenrod).

I added some Bachelor buttons, also known as cornflower,
free-for-the-picking, growing in the field next to the Potting Shed.

A yellow and blue floral teapot was a pretty match for our tablecloth
and for sipping on our floral blend tea!

Blue and white floral plates are alight with butterflies,
served on carved wood chargers.

Wallace Hotel flatware features five assorted, reproduction designs. . .

An Impero dinner fork, Coburg salad fork, William and Mary dinner knife,
Federalist dinner spoon and Barocco teaspoon.

Reversible blue and white napkins, floral on one side and ticking stripe on the other,
are paired with yellow check napkins.

Help yourself to a delicious Lemon-Blueberry Scone!
I used a favorite cake mix hack, used to make
Red Velvet Scones with White Chocolate Chips.

These scones start with a box of lemon cake mix,
are studded with fresh blueberries and
topped with a simple lemon glaze!

Ingredients:
*1 1/4 cups Lemon Cake Mix (I used Betty Crocker Super Moist Lemon Cake Mix)
*You’ll have enough cake mix leftover for a second batch of scones.
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
8 Tbsp. cold butter, cut into pieces
2/3 cup milk or half and half
1 cup fresh blueberries (or frozen, do not thaw)
1 large lemon, zested; juice reserved for glaze
Lemon Glaze
1 – 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 cup powdered sugar

Method
Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Combine cake mix and flour in bowl of food processor; pulse a few times to combine.
Add cubed cold butter to processor and pulse until mixture resemble pea-sized crumbs.
(If you don’t have a food processor, cut in butter with a pastry cutter or two knives.)
Add mixture to medium bowl, mix in blueberries.
Add lemon zest to milk; add to flour mixture, stirring until mixture holds together.
Knead dough with well-floured hands to form a ball.
Place dough on prepared baking sheet and gently press down to form an 8- or 9-inch domed circle.
Cut circle into 8 wedges with a greased knife or bench scraper.
Chill scones for at least 15 minutes up to an hour in the refrigerator before baking.
Chilling the scone dough after forming helps keep the butter cold that creates that flaky texture.
When ready to bake, place 2 inches apart on parchment paper.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until edges are starting to brown and centers are set.
Transfer scones to wire rack to cool completely. When cool, drizzle with glaze.

To make glaze:
Mix sugar with lemon juice, adding 1 tablespoon of juice at a time until reaching desired consistency.
Drizzle glaze over top of cooled scones. Allow glaze to set before serving.
For a thicker glaze, use more confectioner’s sugar.

Bake from frozen option:
Flash freeze unbaked scones, then wrap individually and bake them one or two at a time as needed.
Add a few minutes to your baking time when baking from frozen.
Bake frozen scones within 1 month for best flavor and rise.

Behind the scenes:
You probably noticed that I took some of my photos on the porch.
Photographing a table outdoors is not without its challenges!
The sun’s too harsh and bright or it’s too cloudy;
the heat and humidity causes condensation on stemware
and camera lenses to fog;
not to mention tree pollen, the threat of rain or wind. . .

There were 17 mph wind gusts when I had my window to photograph
my table which ultimately sent me scurrying to the porch
with my flowers to finish photographing.

I scrambled to find clips for my tablecloth to help weight it down and keep it from flying around
in the wind. . . I think I need to invest in some proper tablecloth weights. :)

So beautiful! I love the Blue and White with a hint of yellow!! Such a charming spot too!! Thank you for always sharing such incredible inspiration 🌸🎉
So pretty and sitting there by the water would be so relaxing
Oh, the adventures of a tablescape photographer! You are quite adaptable!
Your water view is so lovely and very inviting. I love the happy colors and each plate, silverware, teapot, cups and saucers, and chargers, speak to me.
I must say also that those scones look so delicious I am going to think about them all day! I sure wish I had one now!
Your floral arrangement is beautiful and the Laura Ashley cloth is so perfect! You are so blessed to have the beautiful corn flower field view! That would make a lovely framed picture.
All your other Mother’s Day post are lovely and I remember them well. Thanks for always inspiring.
I love all of your posts Mary. Just absolutely stunning
Mary, I have always loved the blue/white and yellow combination. The cheery Laura Ashley tablecloth with the floral print squares is the perfect foundation for lakeside dining. I felt your pain trying to photograph with wind, but I so love when you set a table lakeside. The arrangement of grocery store flowers is lovely in the vintage ironstone pitcher. The flowers and tablecloth are a gorgeous pairing, meant for each other. The teapot is charming serving up Harney and Sons Mother’s Day Tea.
Would you please pass me a Lemon-Blueberry scone? They look delicious and what’s not to love with a cake mix hack?!
It is always a pleasure to share Monday Morning Blooms with you 💙💛🤍 Wishing you a beautiful week!
Mary, this is gorgeous! The napkins, tablecloth and teapot are such a pretty colorway with the blue & white. I really love lemon yellow, whether it’s a food flavor or color. It’s a color that works for me. The tea sounds like one I would love with it’s flavors, nice for late afternoon or evening (I also need caffeine earlier in my day). The flowers are the happy accessory to the tabletop. I love how you can pick the bachelor’s buttons from the field.
Definitely get yourself some weights. However, we’d never even know the problems you had, had you not pointed them out. Your timing was obviously just right for the photos you dis get. The lakeside makes such a beautiful setting. I know you likely miss the shade the tree provided, but opportunity is knocking!
Happy Monday Morning Blooms!
I love the blue and white with hints of yellow! And then pair it with your waterfront views! Perfection!
The scone recipe is perfect for a Mother’s Day tea!
I’m glad you braved the elements for us! Such a lovely table!
I wish you a lovely week ahead with your fur girls!
Mary, beautiful table and lake view. Blue and yellow is such a great combination. Everything looks so perfect for a Mother’s Day celebration. I can’t wait to try the scone recipe. Thank you for starting this week off to a good start!
Thank you Terri! I sent you an email yesterday, can you check your spam folder? ♥
All the Monday Morning posts are absolutely beautiful! Love them all! Sure wish my Mother was here to enjoy just one of those tables!!! HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to every Mom!!! ♥️🌺🌸🌼💐🌹🌻
Your table and lake view are so cheery for a Mother’s Day tea, Mary. I wondered about that Harney and Sons tea, but didn’t order any. Your scones look lemony luscious, and that tart server is so perfect for serving. I do think of my own dear mom each and every day and miss talking to her and asking her things. Have a beautiful week with your darling Sophie and Lola.
This is so lovely Mary, I never would have guessed that you were dealing with wind issues! The pretty blue, yellow and white brings instant smiles and what a beautiful spot to enjoy a cuppa lakeside looking over the water. The mixed pattern flatware set is really nice and I love the way you elevated the teapot on a pedestal. The cake mix hack scones sound delightful!
Jenna
Beautiful, an ode to all kinds of mothers.
Mary, your lakeside table is so pretty against the majestic blue. I love yellow and blue together with hints of white. The tablecloth really compliments the floral design of the teapot. The flowers are lovely. Sorry you are experiencing wind. I might have to check out those delicious looking scones. Happy new week🩷
Wonderful inspiration and jaw dropping photography, Mary. Your lake backdrop is so beautiful!
The H and S tea sounds delicious and their tin is so pretty and festive. Your floral arrangements are always stunning. Interesting recipe. Thanks for sharing. Lost my mom 29 years ago and every day I miss her. And that was a lifetime ago. Half my life has passed and she is still sorely missed. How she loved girlie beautiful teatimes – and I grew up with a huge lake in my backyard, so this MD tea would be so right for her. ♥ To sweet mothers everywhere, thank you. ♥
Mary, you always do an incredible job of photographing your work. I love the lakeside and porch combo. The tablecloth is so pretty as the colors complement each other. I have always loved blue, white and yellow. Thanks for the scone recipe. They sound delicious! Your teapot and dishes are lovely. Your floral arrangement is beautiful! Happy Monday! Clara❤️
Good morning, Mary! Your floral arrangement is beautiful! The blue and yellow color palette you chose is cheerful and perfect for a May table celebrating Mother’s Day. I always swoon over your pretty china collections. The blue and white plates are perfect! The blueberry scones look scrumptious. I will definitely be making these. Thanks for sharing the recipe. I understand wholeheartedly the challenges Mother Nature gives us when photographing outdoors. Last week, we were plagued by several severe storms and some nearby produced tornadoes. We under a tornado threat again today. It has been such a joy to join you to celebrate mothers. I wish you a most blessed week ahead, sweet friend!
So lovely, Mary! Your table is set with what were my Mom’s favorite colors too, she loved blue and yellow! What a delight to join you today at your cozy flower filled table, yes, thank you, I’ll have a cup of that delicious tea while we enjoy time together.
The tablecloth is the perfect back drop for your pretty tea pot and dishes. Thank you for this beautiful view and table setting, it’s always a blessing when we gather for our Monday Morning Blooms! Xo Lidy

On My blue transpherware plates and celebrate spring in all its glory. Thank you for the inspiration.
Oh Barbara, I hope it’s not too serious. Thought and prayers for a safe surgery and speedy recovery.♥
Mary, I could float right off into that beautiful blue lake. What a perfect setting. The blueberry scones look delicious, as does the Harney and Son Mother’s Day tea. I need to place an order and will add a tin of this tea. Blue and yellow are favorite colors for me too. They are very country French. Enjoy your week ahead. I hope it is beautiful weather for you.
Beautiful, Mary. Those flowers are just gorgeous! I have blueberries in the fridge, so I’m going to be trying your scone recipe.

I love the recipe but there were no oven instructions. What temperature do you bake these scones?
Hi Nancy, I had written ‘Preheat oven to 400°F’ in the text of the recipe, but left out of the printable, sorry! Hope you enjoy!
