A Sign of Spring

A sign of Spring that fills me with equal measures of  joy and dread. . .

Since these buds on our Silver Maple are the precursor to allergy season~

When grains of yellow pollen drift to the porch to cover every surface~

Prompting us to reach for the Zyrtec~

Making us miserable. . .

and wishing Spring wasn’t also allergy season at our house~

Hoping you see signs of spring that don’t have you reaching for Zyrtec or Claritin :)

Thank you for your visit, I’m joining:

They’re very PRETTY to look at! Great photos!

I’m already sneezing & taking allergy meds due to our mild winter up here…can you believe it? I’m lovin’ this 40º temps in Feb. I just hope we don’t ALSO have them in July!!!!!

Oh, boy … can I relate! My neighbors elm tree is *elming* and I’m sniffing .. along with my kitties, too! Pretty images … too bad they come with a sneeze!

Isn’t it interesting how spring can be so beautiful yet cause such havoc?
We always look forward to spring because it is so beautiful but so many people suffer with allergies and don’t get to fully enjoy it. The picture of your sweet doggie reminded me that my dogs and cats all had allergies and I had to keep the air purifiers going 24/7. That said, I think we are all looking forward to some beautiful spring weather even though, so far, we have been blessed with a mild winter…so far! I hope you are enjoying your
weekend and soon that tree will have beautiful leaves and you will be allergy free!

I have been taking Singulair. *sighs* I love spring, but I do not like it when my allergies and asthma are acting up!!!

You are so far ahead of us. I have to laugh when I see some bloggers talking about Spring cleaning and doing Spring decorations. We don’t have a bud in sight. Spring is a long way off here, but we have been spared the blizzards this far. I do recall a few in late March though!

I know! All the pretty things make me go crazy too. I was thinking it was a cold starting but I think it is just nasty springtime allergies! At least you have something pretty to cause them. It is just brown and ugly here and I am going crazy already!

These really are spectacular in bud! I haven’t seen them before.

I am SO fortunate that I don’t have allergies. My daughter suffers so. I feel for you and all who do. Beautiful shots though. XO, Pinky

Isn’t it a shame that such a beautiful time of year brings such misery? Hang in there and enjoy what you can and take meds, meds, meds. Cheers.

Doesn’t the red just stand out in the mosaics? Very beautiful! And right now we have a dusting of pollen on everything here in Florida! ♥♥♥

It’s awfully pretty stuff to cause such distress. We are some way from spring, but I enjoyed seeing your mosaics and hoping for the season.

Oh, I do sympathize with your sniffles and sneezes, but those maple buds are so beautiful and such a wonderful sign of spring! xoxo

I love Maples! So sorry that you suffer with allergies. Spring is my favorite season and luckily I have no allergy problems. I can imagine how miserable that must be. Love your beautiful mosaics!

It’s a shame that something so beautiful is the cause of such misery! I love your photos!

Oh boy I do know all about allergie discomfort! I’m in Arizona for the winter and it’s Spring here with a very dry winter..no rain so between the dust and pollen..oh boy…achoo! Pass the Claritin!!!

  24. February 27, 2012 at 11:58 am

I feel so sorry for those who suffer with allergies. We’re blessed to not have those. I hope the season won’t last too long or be too severe. I’m looking forward to spring!

  25. February 27, 2012 at 3:18 pm

Beautiful mosaics! I reach for the Claritin every morning. With our mild winter, I’m not sure we’ve ever had a break from allergy season this year.

Those buds are lovely, but I can understand your dread. I suffered allergies for years, every month except August and then ended up in hospital. I has lost 12 pounds in 5 days. and the condition was allergy related. I had been taking 2 shots a week for allergies, 3 months after the hospital stay, I took myself off of the shots and it was the best thing I ever did. I was sick a bit, but got through it and now do not have any allergies at all~
