I’m joining The Novel Bakers for Garden Week.
One of my assignments :) for garden week was to visit and share a public garden, you can find part one of my visit to Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden, here.
The Orchid Conservatory at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden is the Carolinas’ only glasshouse – 8,000 square feet under five stories – dedicated to the display of orchids and tropical plants from all over the world, with every continent represented with the exception of Antarctica.
The $12.5 million project had more than 300 donors and opened to visitors in 2008. Highlights include one of the largest indoor displays of bromeliads in the Eastern U.S. and a 16-foot tall tropical canvas full of epiphytes.
As usual, Camera + Garden/ flowers = a photo heavy post for me, even after much editing! For optimal viewing, WordPress blogs function and load best with Chrome or Firefox as your browser.
The Orchid Conservatory interior temperatures range from 60 to 85 degrees, creating an oasis free from frost and alternating between the arid dryness of the desert and the humidity of the rainforest. The misters have the additional benefit of cooling off visitors in the summer heat.
Stroll along under the arches of air plants, enjoy the waterfall wall of orchids, along with the lush foliage and tropical color of The Conservatory.
Admission to The Orchid Conservatory is included with general admission at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.

Good morning, Mary . Thanks for sharing . My husband and I love to visit botanical gardens. Last one we visited was Callaway gardens in Georgia . They have a butterfly conservatory that is just amazing.

Mary, this was a treat. Your photographs bring the orchid house to life–I followed along in your footsteps, looking at the wonder of it all. Each photo could be framed. Just stunning! It was a pleasure to play with you this past week. We had a great time!

i have just crawled in bed to finally relax and enjoy your post! been up since 3 am again and running long and hard all day, i like to save the best for last. what a wonderful treat to wander through this conservatory with you, i am most pleased with the waterfall, i could use a good soak to cool down in this hot house. such a beautiful building and lush finale for garden week!
yes, you are teachers pet, your field trip was a the perfect extra curriculum you needed to sail through finals! your attention to detail delights this garden girl to no end… thanks so much for playing in the garden this week, i know how full your plate was, but you didn’t miss a moment sharing the best of the best, as always~
