Happy Friday! It’s the first Friday of the month which means I’m joining my blogging friends for another edition of Floral Friday!
You can find their links for their beautiful floral inspiration and flower therapy at the bottom of this post.
For this week’s Floral Friday edition, our common theme was a pitcher. I found a vintage enamelware pitcher at an antique mall several years ago. I loved the pitcher’s chippy nature and colorful spray of flowers on the front.
Perfectly imperfect but pitcher perfect for a casual garden bouquet!
I picked up this chippy chair for $8 from dealer that was closing shop a couple of weeks ago. . .
And the right price for a fun photo prop or to use as a plant stand on the porch of the Potting Shed.
I planted the chair between the daylilies and the veronica. . .
And filled the pitcher with a combination of hydrangeas, Mother of Pearl roses, butterfly bush, bee balm, veronica, obedient plant, and lamb’s ear.

Makes me blissfully happy! The container spilling with color and your garden as a backdrop is magically beautiful. I must read about obedient plant, love the white spires. Love the butterflies on the bee balm! Summer at its very best.
Pitcher perfect indeed!!!…That sweet pitcher was made to be on that chair together just like Fred and Ginger dancing among the flowers. Oh how I envy your gorgeous garden Mary! It must be so wonderful walking through your garden each morning with a cup of coffee to start of your day. I love how you capture the butterflies and got that bee in too! So, when I begin to start planning my garden, I shall get the guest room ready for you, along with Lidy and Pam too! :)
So love being a part of Floral Friday with you!! Happy Friday and have a fabulous weekend!
Thank you Shirley! I’m thrilled to join you girls for Floral Friday. I hope you’re able to take a break from packing this weekend and stop and smell the roses❣️🌹 🌼🦋🌸🐝
Beautiful color combination in a perfect vessel and setting! I think I need Mother of Pearl and that color bee balm in my garden! Tell me, how does the Mother of Pearl fair through the seasons, both hot and cold?
Thank you Rita! We planted the MOP rose which was a gift when my mother-in-law Betty passed away in 2016. So far, so good and it came through fine with our two winters. It’s showing a little stress now which I can’t tell is from over/underfeeding or the heat. You can read about it here: https://www.starrosesandplants.com/plants/grandiflora-rose/mother-pearl
Mother Nature rejoices every time you discover her beauties…you certainly have an eye for displaying the very best of her efforts, in combination with yours. Lovely, peaceful arrangement…a taste of spring long gone, yet must be hanging on in your area…very hot and summery down south Louisiana way. Thanks so much for sharing your talents…
Mary, the perfect pitcher and chair set among your beautiful flowers is breathtaking. The pitcher spilling over with flowers sitting on that chippy chair is stunning. I must alert Jenna because that would be a gorgeous watercolor painting. A day in your garden is always a good day. I am asking along with Rita about the Mother of Pearl in the hot and cold. I so enjoy sharing Floral Friday’s with you. Have a lovely weekend!
Thank you Pam, it’s always a pleasure to join you for Floral Fridays in YOUR beautiful garden! Our MOP doesn’t seem to be affected by the winter. The leaves are yellowing a bit now and I’m trying to determine the cause. You can read more about it here: https://www.starrosesandplants.com/plants/grandiflora-rose/mother-pearl
Your display is picture perfect! Would make a beautiful painting…I must say your flowers look so perfect..with the weather sooooo hot here, mine look soooo stressed..and now we have the dreaded Japanese beetles back after being gone for a number of years…makes me sad….finally a cool day to go clean up. Hopefully, things will get better…but yours are just perfect!! Thanks for sharing..
Thank you Ellen! Everything is starting to show stress from the summer heat including me! 🌞We are in the low 80s the next couple of days….it’s gonna feel like a cold snap after weeks of mid 90 degree temps! Don’t get me started about those Japanese Beetles! Thanks for your visits & comments❣️🌸🌼🦋🌺🐝

Good morning Mary, I bet your mind began whirling when you saw that chair with the floral decal. You and Pam have taken me back to my childhood this morning. I still have a Little Golden Book named” Fun with Decals” which was about a rainy day decorating furniture with decals.
Your arrangement is so charming and delightful with an assortment of your blooming flowers plucked from your garden. To me, there is nothing prettier. How fun that you had the vintage pitcher which was perfect for your new chair to showcase your bouquet. So pretty nettled among your daylilies and veronica.
Wow, Mary!!! Your garden is producing beautiful blossoms!!! The “planted” chair and the pitcher look as if they grew there!!! Just a lovely “Floral Friday” display!!! Hope your weekend is as lovely as your beautiful garden, Mary!!!
Doesn’t your colorful bouquet look beautiful in your chippy pitcher and then displayed in your garden on the chippy chair??!! Your photos are begging me to take a whiff of all those gorgeous flowers. Thanks for the beauty!
Oh Mary! What a lovely, beautiful, & serene sight to enjoy when I first opened my email! Love, love, love the pitcher! The color palette of the flowers you selected match the pitcher perfectly! The chair is a perfect seat for the matching pitcher! The flowers are such beautiful colors & so healthy! They just make you smile! Thank you for sharing this today! I desperately needed it as the weather is so hot & most of our house has been w/out A/C since the 3rd! You never disappoint & I thank you for the uplifting post! It allowed me a calm, happy moment to enjoy nature & focus on our blessings! I sincerely thank you! Clara 🌻💐🐝🦋
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!! I could gaze at this lovely post all day—delightful blooms, amazing setting and such fun accessories. Thank you so much for this piece of calm beauty in the midst of all the heat and “stuff” going on. So enjoying the Floral Fridays series.
Perfect! What a stunning post, sweet Mary, of your beautiful garden filled with gorgeous flowers and birds, bees and butterflies! Your hydrangeas are divine, but it is that lovely lilac butterfly bush that I am really drawn to, we have a darker purple, but yours is a stunning color.
As always, you inspire me and start off my California day with beauty and joy. Thank you Mary! I picture you this weekend in your lakeside garden enjoying God’s handiwork with a smile.
xoxo Lidy
It’s always such a joy to visit, your garden is perfection, Mary. Pitcher perfect is a good word for today’s post, featuring such a gorgeous bouquet of flowers from your garden. I love the hydrangeas, but it’s really the butterfly bush that has captured my eye, we have a dark purple one but your lighter color is divine. I’m picturing you this weekend in your lakeside garden filled with birds, bees, butterflies and blooms enjoying all of God’s handiwork. Happy weekend, friend! xo
Thanks so much for the reply. Some how I missed the blog you did on the fertilizer. I use the same thing but sure don’t get the same results as you. You truly have a green thumb too. I live in Kingsport, TN and we have had some really hot weather too. Hope the air cools down a little soon. Love your blog! Thanks!!

The word Lush is what I think when seeing your garden pictures. It’s very thrilling to walk through such a garden as you have been blessed with.
Beautiful and inspiring garden. Love the new chair. I am looking for a chair for my garden but haven’t had time to visit the antique shops. The pitcher and chair are picture perfect. I hear that some of the bees are on the endangered list. They are so important to our gardens. FF has been one of my favorite things since blogging. Happy gardening.
Hi Mary, This post is stunning. Your lovely chair is the perfect prop for posing your beautiful flowers. It will be beautiful on your potting shed porch. I so admire your talent and love looking at your posts. By the way…I read you are looking for Lake Norman day lily. A friend gave me two fans recently and I’m looking to seeing it bloom next summer. If you haven’t found one by then, possibly I can share a couple of fans next fall. It is a beauty! I image you folks in central NC are experiencing the heat just as we are here in eastern VA. Ahhhhh, such is summer in the south.
I love your posts…they are like a mini vacation for me…and it us just so refreshing. Thanks for continuing to do what you do….making peoples days brighter.
There’s nothing better than a beautiful garden! I’m sure I speak for so many when I say thank you for all your hard work so we can sit back and enjoy your garden pictures.
Also a huge thank you for your post that used canning jars as vases. I bought smaller sized jars and made the perfect desk size arrangements for all my colleagues last week. They were a huge hit, and this office never looked better!
Happy summer, and please enjoy a good thunder storm for me; I’m missing the south!
This is truly stunning Mary! Your photos are incredible!!! I adore your chair with the pitcher of flowers…I have pinned several of your photos to paint from, just gorgeous!!

What a dynamic duo! The chippy pitcher and new to you chippy chair! A match made in heaven on earth, aka “Mary’s garden”! The flowers are lovely. Great job Mary! That chair will look darling this fall with a big fat pumpkin on it, lol. Try to stay cool and “garden on”. 🌻🌸🦋🐝☀️🌼
Your chippy pitcher reminds me of my grandmother’s dishes we ate her fried chicken dinners on. I have been stalking your blog especially your potting shed. I’m finally realizing my dream for one and can’t wait for it to be finished. I fell in love with your daylily in this post. Do you know it’s name? I’m assuming it’s not the Lake Norman one mentioned earlier in comments. Thank you for sharing your wonderful settings and pictures.
That is so beautiful and I absolutely love the chair and where you seated it. The chippy pitcher couldn’t be a better choice and that big blue hydrangea makes me want to squeeze it and feel it against my face! You captured such great shots with the bees and butterfly. Love the mix of color and flowers you used- a wonderful summer bouquet!
