Happy Wednesday! Can you believe Christmas is a week from today. . . how did that happen?

I set a table by the tree to enjoy the twinkle and glow of the lights and for a little December nesting.

Cardinals have flown in for a Cardinal Christmas. . .

A tartan throw provides a foundation for the table as a tablecloth, adding a warm and cozy plaid layer.

And a natural runner of evergreens . . .cypress, juniper, boxwood and fir, is sprinkled down the center of the table, with Cardinals in glittery nests. Cardinal ribbon weaves through the greenery, with pine cones and mercury glass votives, to add a warm glow to the table.

A Fitz and Floyd Cardinal Christmas Santa Pitcher is serving as a centerpiece for the table. It’s filled with fresh-cut greenery, red ornaments, berry picks, pine cones and Cardinal ribbon. . .

And a Cardinal ornament perches on a pine branch.

Red paisley and plaid napkins are married with a pair of napkin rings. . . a pine cone napkin ring and a floral beaded napkin ring, the more pattern, the merrier!

And plaid rimmed salad plates with Cardinals flew in from HomeGoods. . .

Thank you for all the beauty you put into your writings and photographs. I started to call it a blog but it is so unlike any other blog that I didn’t think the word fit. Your site is so enjoyable to read and scroll down thru without having to try to get rid of all the ads that I can and see around all the ones I can’t get rid of. I don’t blame anyone for putting ads on but the past few months it has become very difficult to read some with their new formats. So this is just a thank you and to let you know that I look forward to what you dream up to show your readers next and also to say merry Christmas!

Janice, I hope I can piggy back on your comments. :) You expressed my thoughts exactly! I so enjoy every new post from Mary. It gives me such inspiration! Merry Christmas to you and thanks for your perfect words!

Janice, count me in as another one who is being driven bonkers by all those ads popping up on blogs. And, yes, I do appreciate this lovely site for both its content and format.

Thank you for this beautiful table setting. Cardinals are always a part of my Christmas home. You are an inspiration and I love seeing your posts. It is snowing here and the beauty of these birds stands out against the the pines and snow. Hope you have a very Merry Christmas!

I agree with Janice! I am happy that bloggers can make a living from their posts but I miss the days when the ads were not so “in your face”. I subscribe to a number of blogs, but yours is the one I always look at first and actually look for before I read my email. I would be distraught if you went solely to Instagram or retired from blogging. Hope all the “Merry” you provide to your readers brings blessings to your life!

Such a Merry & Bright Christmas table! I love cardinals and always feel like I’m going to have a special day when I see one in my yard…the plates you found are sooo pretty! I didn’t let myself even go to HomeGoods since early fall, so I wouldn’t buy anything :) Christmas really came on the express train this year, I am struggling to catch up! Enjoy your beautiful and cozy table this week Mary!

Oh Mary—I would love to sit at this table. I wouldn’t even need food !😊 You are so gifted !!! I am a huge cardinal fan!! I went a little simpler this year. My mantle has all kinds of cardinal items on it, as does other areas of my home. Plus—-I have 3 sets of live ones at my feeder. So—thank you for this beautiful post. Bless you and your family! I have used the same Christmas décor for 30 years now- sentimental things- but a few years ago I added in cardinals and it revitalized all my old things. LOVE this table, especially the Mikasa plates.

Mary, I just love your cardinal table. The male cardinals on our winter rye grass are stunning this time of year, they are a favorite bird of mine. The Fitz & Floyd Santa is the perfect centerpiece with your plaids, paisleys, and fresh greens! Merry Wednesday ❤️🎄🌹🎄

Another beautiful table! Cardinals are so precious in their bright red coat and I love seeing the male give the female cracked seed, he actually feeds her, so, so sweet. The Fitz and Floyd pitcher is lovely as is the entire table, especially your new plates with the wide plaid boarder and the cardinal in the center – just BEAUTIFUL! Enjoy dinning by tree-light, it adds to the wonder of CHRISTmas! 🎄🎄🎄

This is amazing as usual. We don’t have cardinals here in Queensland but I love the ribbon. I recently used your rosemary wreath idea for cheeses for a party. Seeing this table I am definitely going to plan something special for Christmas Eve dinner with my husband even if it is 32degrees centigrade.

I just think cardinals are so exotic looking. We do not have them here. I saw one last year about this same time when I was in Indiana and I remember seeing them in Pennsylvania when I was a kid. Thank you for your lovely pictures.

I really appreciate the inclusion of woodland elements into the holiday decorations. Birds, nests, live greenery, etc. provide such a nice balance to all that is glittery. Looking forward to all that you will bring to us in 2020!

    Happy Holidays!

I received an amazing vacation from my parents, and because I follow the liturgical calendar, I have until January 6th to finish giving gifts. I love receiving gift cards, especially Sephora ones! Although I have some friends who don’t like to give gift cards because it’s so impersonal. I like gift cards because I like to choose myself what I would like instead of giving a list.ornaments
