Happy Sunday!
Here’s a weekend waterview from Lake Norman.

We’ve enjoyed a break in the heat and humidity this past week with morning temps in the 50s!
It’s amazing what a 10 – 15 degree drop in the temperature with humidity levels that don’t mimic
those of a tropical rainforest will do for your mental health and mood. :)

We enjoyed a little boating this week with the cooler temps.

Lola and Sophie both said it felt much better outside this week in their fur coats!

National Dog Day falls on August 26th tomorrow,
so you have still time to plan your celebration!
🐾 🎉 🥳 🐾
Of course, it you’re a dog owner, every day is paws for celebration!

National Dog Day was founded in 2004 by Pet & Family Lifestyle Expert and Animal Advocate, Colleen Paige. It’s celebrated to encourage dog ownership of all breeds, mixed and pure, and embraces the opportunity for all dogs to live a happy, safe and abuse-free life.
The National Dog Day Foundation supports all breeds and varieties of dogs and discourages purchasing from unethical backyard breeders and puppy mills; instead, supporting reputable breeders or adopting from rescue homes.

Health benefits of owning a dog:
The world’s best antidepressant has 4 legs, a wagging tail and comes with unconditional love. 🐾🐾

Dogs are a great way to beat the blues with unconditional love and licks, and a laugh when you need it.

They also give their owners a sense of purpose, particularly important for the elderly or sick, as dogs provide companionship and help with feelings of loneliness.

My mother-in-law’s pups, Maddie and Zoe, were a huge comfort to her and her overall sense of well-being after my father-in-law passed away.

Studies have shown that having a dog in the home can actually lower a child’s likelihood of developing related allergies by as much as 33 percent. Children exposed early on to animals tend to develop stronger immune systems overall.

A dog can fill your heart with love and help improve the overall health of your heart too.

Heart-related studies conducted by the CDC and NIH, found that pet owners exhibited decreased blood pressure, cholesterol and triglyceride levels, all of which can ultimately minimize their risk for having a heart attack down the road.

For those who have already experienced a heart attack, research indicates that patients with a dog tend to have better recovery rates. These benefits are thought to be connected with dogs’ tendency to help reduce or at least control their owners’ overall stress levels.

Having a dog may help you improve or maintain your fitness levels, getting outdoors, enjoying some fresh air with daily walks.

Walking your dog also leads to more conversations with neighbors and other dog owners, helping you stay socially connected as people tend to feel comfortable and more at ease with a person who is with their dog.

That was a wonderful post. We recently lost our Lhasa so it was fun watching your sweet pooches having fun. I also am glad to see that Lake Norman seems to have recovered from that drought!
DOG DAYS!!! That’s what we used to call the end of summer or the end of August! If there is such a thing as reincarnation, I want to come back as a poodle and live with a family like us! CoCo (our brown mini poodle), has the perfect life!!! Sometimes she doesn’t think so because all she wants to do is play ball 24/7! We oblige about 2 of those hours!!! We love her anyway and always feel bad for the many that are abandoned and/or mistreated!! HAPPY NATIONAL DOG DAY Sophie & Lola!!! LOVE from CoCo ♥️🎂🐩🦮🐕🐕🦺🎉🍾🥂
I always enjoy your posts! I love the photography and the way you decorate.
Give your pups a kiss from me!
Thanks for putting a smile on my face!!
Your pups are so adorable and full of life! I lost my sweet Southpaw about a month ago! 😢😢❤️. And a few days later we welcomed Cinnamon into our home…a 1 year old beagle-mini pin rescue who is to cute for words! Her energy level is pushing my almost 70 year old limits but am thrilled to have her. Thankfully we have a large fenced in yard situated in the woods so she has squirrels, birds, frogs and deer to chase not to mention her fascination with our chicks (who don’t leave their large run….they just stare at each other through the openings. I can’t imagine life without a dog ( or my chicks). We plan on getting a second rescue in a few months once Cinnamon settles in. ❤️ I finally went to Home Goods…oh my! Got the cutest witch tea pot! I will be going back! Peace.
Happy National Dog Day, Mary, Lola and Sophie! Lola and Sophie bring so much joy to all of us, they are too cute for words, and I love the way you get them to pose and dress up! So glad your temps cooled a bit, ours too, and you got to have some lovely boat rides.

Well said Mary. Our dogs are such a big part of our family. They do offer unconditional love ❤️. I can’t imagine our lives without our precious pups. My son volunteers at our local animal shelter, walking and playing with the dogs waiting for their furever homes. Sophie and Lola are durable. Happy National Dog day.
Sweet post, Mary! Happy National Dog Day to Sophie and Lola! Beautiful water views 🧡
This made me smile…
What a lovely post! I always enjoy your waterview and pet centered entries and the inclusion of video was an unexpected and welcome surprise. Thank you for starting my week off with a smile!
Happy National Dog Day tomorrow! Your girls are precious! I do enjoy seeing their sweet faces and paws. We have rescued many, many different animals through the years. They indeed enhance your life immensely! We have special stories of each precious soul. Yes, they are work, but well worth it! When you see those sweet faces staring up at you in appreciation, they will melt your heart! The respite from the weather was glorious! We’re back in the heat and higher humidity. With only a week left in August, we anxiously await for cooler temperatures to stay around for awhile. Happy Sunday! Clara❤️
Mary we do love our fur babies and my little white 5 pound Jesse James is a 19 year old pom. He has been by my side since birth and when I was ill…he never left me altho the Captain had to lift him up onto the bed…he would snuggle by my side and just give love. Your sweet fur babies are so cute and thank you for the videos on the lake…we can tell they love every minute of it and the treats that you take the time to make shows your love for them.
Have a great week.
Happy National Dog Day tomorrow to the cutest pups ever! It’s nice to see them enjoying the cooler temperatures in your pontoon boat! ♥️
Last week was such a nice break! Too bad this week the weather from Hades returns
I hope you’re planning a cool paw-ty for Lola and Sophie tomorrow. They are so adorable.
Looks like another perfect day on the lake! Thanks for the reminder of National Dog Day, and so many ideas to do a little something extra for my girl. Your dogs are so well cared for that I don’t think their day could get any better tomorrow! Woof, woof from west coast Delilah to east coast Lola and Sophie!
Such cuties. Love the pictures, especially the one with the one one where it looks like the dog is bouncing down the dock and the hugs from your husband ones.
Mary, the lake looks so beautiful and so welcome after this hot summer. I’m sure more hot days ahead but it’s nice to have a little taste of cooler weather.
Lola and Sophie are the sweetest girls and I hope they enjoy national dog day! I started a rescue group years ago and we still help our local county shelter. Pets give so much and ask for so little.
I enjoyed seeing your girls with their papa! Dog people are good people!!
Love the precious pups photos!!! And all the furry friend inspiration that go with them! This totally warmed my heart this morning! I especially love the photo of your babe flying through the air while running on the dock and the paws photo, but they are all precious! Thank you Mary!
Mary ~ Bless you for lifting spirits with pictures of your precious
pets and views of the lake. Your creativity continues to astound
and your spirit of wellbeing uplifts when most needed.
Happy National Dog Day to two of my favorite furry friends, Loly and Sophie. I read each of these recommendations, totally agree, and I hope to add a dog back into my life soon. Give them extra treats from their Auntie Sarah.
Dogs are so cute! Thank you for sharing..
Lola and Sophie are so stinkin CUTE! I love seeing them. Have a great holiday weekend.
