Happy Friday! How about some retail therapy for your weekend?
I *paid* a few visits to HomeGoods, aka, “The Mothership” recently.
( *paid* –> figuratively and literally. ;)
The Christmas elves and worker bees at HomeGoods have been busy, busy, busy stocking the shelves!

HomeGoods is dangerously close by, in shopping center with a Target I frequent,
making it easy to stop in and see what’s in store.

Everything ranging from Halloween, to Harvest to Holiday is in their stores,
and it’s the time of year when I have holiday whiplash!

While I love to celebrate the seasons and holidays as they come,
(especially Halloween,) it’s hard not to get caught up in ‘Christmas in October’
when everything is sparkling and twinkling at you!

While Christmas merchandise arrives in October
to fill the shelves, there are still autumn
and Harvest goodies to be found.

I spied a handsome turkey tureen which would make a beautiful centerpiece for a Thanksgiving table or sideboard. It was generously sized, alongside this cute set of owl salt & pepper shakers if you’re looking for a little whimsy for a Woodland Friendsgiving.🦉
I always cruise the dish aisles to do some dish scouting and spotting when I pop in.
Dishes get snapped up quickly for resale and I always see some of the same items on Etsy and eBay
for triple and quadruple the price!

Festive red peppermint dishes, made in Portugal . . .

Tartan plaid with poinsettias (Plaid Poinsettia by Grace’s Teaware) . . .

Adorable nutcracker plates and teapot (Christmas Cheer by Grace’s Teaware) . . .

And tables filled with nutcrackers for the collector. . .

I’m mad for plaid and thought this Santa-Tartan-Pajama-Nutcracker was adorable!

It’s not too late to fly over if you’re still looking for Halloween goodies. . .

Most of their Halloween merchandise is on clearance, so the prices are scary good!
🧹 🎃 👻🕸️💀🐈⬛

These Royal Stafford Haunted House Salad Plates were still available. . .
You can see them at A Happy Haunting Tablescape.

I spied this handsome stag / deer wine holder. He’d make a great gift, along with a bottle of wine.
He would also make a great holiday centerpiece with evergreens
or ornaments tucked in the sleigh!

There were lots of kitchen goodies ready to be put into service for Thanksgiving or the holiday season.
An abundance of Dutch ovens at a great price, if you’re in the market for one, for soup / chili weather
or to make The Easiest No-Knead Artisan Bread.

How about a turkey in cake form with a Nordic Ware Turkey 3-D pan?

Handsome turkey dinner plates for your Thanksgiving feast . . .
I’m always on the lookout for a new gobbler to add to my rafter of turkeys! 🦃🦃🦃

Royal Stafford ‘Chantilly’ Turkey are available again this year . . .
Thanksgiving Table with an Easy DIY Indian Corn Vase Flower Arrangement

Great selection and prices on glasses. . . I’m smitten with this textured / hobnail stemware!

Tablecloths and napkin rings are arriving . . .
shop early for the best selection for your Christmas or holiday table!

Throw blankets to keep you warm and cozy this season. . .

You can find great wool and wool blend throws made in Italy . . .

I’ve bought several plaid fringed throws over the years that serve as tablecloths . . .
DIY Blooming Pumpkin and Alfresco Fall Table
A Tartan Happy Owl-idays Table

Trees, ornaments, wreaths and all manner of Christmas decor to deck the halls!

Lots of beautiful items! I have found most retailers have upped their quantity & quality of decorating items! I too frequent Home Goods but the one I frequent is not stocked well as you show here but it could be because it is a smaller store! My “mother ship” is Hobby Lobby! That said, your tables are always an inspiration!
It’s a dangerous place for me to visit! No storage room left…I’m at the point where the guest room had dishes stashed in the closet and in containers under the bed!😱
Love Home Goods. Mine I can practically walk to!! Very dangerous. And Hobby Lobby is right there too!
Love all your ideas. Thanks Mary xoxo
I’m heading to Home Goods the day after Halloween, officially starting to decorate for Christmas
I enjoyed visiting your HomeGoods through your post. I was traveling three days ago and stopped in at one. Unfortunately the offerings were not nearly as nice or plentiful as in your store. In the town I live in all we have is a TJ Maxx. They have home decor items but over the last many months they have not had nearly as good a selection as in years past. It’s been dismal. But if I’m honest, with the over-the-top shopping I’ve done the last 40+ years I have my own HomeGoods in my home already! I really don’t need one more darn thing. But that’s not going to stop me! LOL!!!
I believe the TJ Maxx household selection changed when they added Home Goods stores to their “fleet.”
Mary, thank you for showing me what a wonderful selection you have at HomeGoods. Our store is large, but does not have near the items that you have and I have to agree as a couple of the other ladies I absolutely do not have room for one more thing …I have Storage in my three car garage, my office, my guest bedroom, a complete dish pantry holding nothing but dishes, special cabinets that hold all my flatware, a separate buffet that holds all my linens, a sidebar that holds all my napkin rings and so on and so on and so on. I am sure you must have a separate facility that holds all your beautiful pieces because you always have some inspirational table scapes! Thank you again for this virtual tour that will keep me content in that I don’t believe I need any of the beautifulthings I saw. it saves me a trip that would definitely tempt me to buy just one more thing. Have a great Halloween!
I had never heard of Home Goods till I started reading your blog…now I am addicted. Next week a friend and I are starting at my favorite plant nursery, then Home Goods and then lunch. I will probably stop at Michael’s on way home. Perfect day! Thanks for the fun read!
MY ADRENALINE IS NOW IN “HIGH GEAR!!!” OMG… (YOU REALLY DO need to start shipping…) EVERYTHING!! franki
Hi Mary: Yes, Home Goods in a visual feast of products for the holiday season now. I have a large one near me and it is stocked like yours, but at the moment, I find it overwhelming because the shelves are so full! Also, my thoughts are of fall harvest right now and Thanksgiving. I’ll start decorating for Christmas in November, but hard to get in the spirit quite yet! Of course, I am in Arizona so it’s still hot.
Went for therapy at my local HG’s yesterday. Your store must be larger. Mine had all these items but just packed in and not displayed so nicely. However, as a long time HG’s shopper I must say I suffered from sticker shock. Understand. Not surprised. But still good times were had by all.
I love Home Goods and I’m about 40 minutes away from a store. I used to be about 15 min away before I moved and I sure miss just popping in. Probably just as well as I could get myself in trouble, now I can live vicariously through your beautiful tablescapes. Thanks for sharing.
Oh Mary, I kinda wish I didn’t have a HG store so close to us. It is such a fabulous store. It is all so drool-worthy!!!!
I think their autumn pillows were especially gorgeous this year.
Holiday whiplash, indeed! It seems to be feast or famine for me – all the retail goodies out, several estate sales at the same time, and now the great consigning store I’ve dealt with – all with great merch! That reindeer wine cooler would look great with the napkin holders you & I both have. I get so inspired with your tables and all this merchandise, I really do. Tomorrow, after I go to a fall farm fest with my granddaughter, I need to hit HG with my bestie. Good thing football can entertain Mr. P. over the weekend. 😉 Thanks for the incentive!
I haven’t been to HG in a while, Mary, because I don’t like the long checkout lines. It’s not that close to me, but I did go to World Market this morning for a free mug with purchase! I do like that tartan plaid clad Santa, and all your pretty tables.
I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend! 🍁
Mary, it’s a good thing that the nearest Home Goods is over an hour away from me!! I would love to go see all the beautiful things there for the holidays. You find the prettiest items and I so enjoy seeing your posts with your added special touches!! Thanks for sharing your shopping trip!
Mary, you reminded me of something I saw on eBay recently. It was a set of 4 pumpkin plates from the Dollar Tree that were originally $1.50 each, being offered at the ridiculous price of $50, plus shipping! I’m amazed at the boldness (or is it savvy?) of the seller to even do that, and feel badly for anyone who would purchase them without knowing the difference. This is why regular retail therapy “pays off.” We are in the know!
My kind of store, I love Home Goods. It is about 30 minutes away from me. TJMaxx is next door, then Walmart, Ross, Target and more. Lots of fun inspiration Mary.
So many tempting goodies Mary! The turkey tureen is gorgeous and the nutcracker plates are darling to name a few – and it looks like an nutcracker explosion in your store there. I haven’t been to our Home Sense in awhile but maybe this weekend. The fall and Thanksgiving stuff has been gone for awhile here and I expect that the Christmas stuff will have taken over the store. Happy shopping and can’t wait to see what you ended up with!
Mary, we were getting ready to leave when this post arrived. We’re in The Smokies now and one of the 1st stops was HomeGoods! My friend and I had a great time shopping there. The mother ship always calls our name! Thanks for the post. Clara❤️
You crack me up with mother ship! Guess I’m heading to my DNA lineage shortly myself 😉
