I’ve been feathering my nest twig-by-twig lately. . .
. . . tidying, sorting, consigning, donating~
There always seems to be nesting going on around me. . .
I’m long past due taking stock. . .
. . . cleaning out & preparing for Fall with October’s arrival around the corner~
I thought I would follow the birds’ lead and bring my nesting instincts to the table this week ~
And since birds of a feather flock together~ I decided these teapots & pitcher should come home to roost with my set of four fledgling plates~
Gracie China Victorian Bird tea pots along with a pitcher, took flight from TJ Maxx to follow me home~
Filled with an assortment of white blooms serving as vases~ for a flower-filled habitat for my table.
I used my fledgling dishes on a table here, back in January.
On a lark, browsing tablescapes on Pinterest, I discovered that a photo from that post migrated to a blog on tumblr and was then reblogged by tumblr bloggers over & over :(
I noted on the photo on Pinterest that I was the original source and emailed tumblr about copyright violation sending a link to my post. I received a reply within 30 minutes that the media file had been removed.
I’ll be watermarking my photos now and pinning with more interest & an eagle eye in the future :)

good morning from sea dream, i am typing in the pitch black on an ipad, wish me luck! i am so happy tumblr corrected the theft, i know how disturbing that can be, and i can easily see how others steal your photos to feather their own nests~ i noticed on a food blog that they had the hall of shame tab, i clicked through to see the stolen international photos they had found… to no avail no one was correcting them, they used them for business pics in restaurants, for ADVERTISEMENTS, it was endless. another sad note was she had watermarked her pics, these companies had just put banners over them using THEIR logos… makes me ill really, i have so much theft from foreign countries, i mean they harvest pics for hours at a time taking almost everything i share. it just not right … but as someone who umm “borrows” a gazillion of your pics i get the temptation. birds of a feather do flock together and i love all you do!
ok back to the birds :) i love white, outdoors, birds and dessert… so i guess that means i adore MORE OF YOUR WORK! its always so joyful here, honestly when i saw your fresh post i just new i was going to have an extra special start to my day. of course you know the ipad allows me to drink in all your beauty to the tiniest of details. fun fun FUN!

I would never have to worry about my photos being stolen because I can’t photograph worth diddlysquat, but yours are “professional quality” and I can see the temptation. However, their lack of integrity is what bugs the “shit” out of me! I see I’ve got a fan club started for your “book”! And rightly so, you have one of the best blogs out there, Mary. I look forward to your posts in my email with anticipation.
You’ve scored another hit! the white on white theme is stunning in its deceiving simplicity….deceiving because it is not easy to do a monochromatic theme and yet, you achieve it with seemingly, very little effort…!
I was not familiar with Pinterest. Interesting site, although I can’t quite make heads or tails of it yet….
A friend of mine found one of my food photos in another blog and let me know so I could contact them. The ‘borrower’ used the excuse that they could not find the original source…yet, it had been found at my own Gather site with my name on it. Eventually they deleted my photo and used someone else’s….I hope they asked permission, because they did not give credit to that other source!

Mary, Mary, Mary…..shaking my head. What to do? What to do? This is beautiful!!! I am so in love with the dishes that I can’t see straight. I don’t remember seeing them back in January, so I am going to revisit that post. I am just head over heels and back again with those dishes!!! The monochromatic look of the table is beautiful! Like Linda and the foodiesleuth lady, I haven’t figured out how to use Pinterest, either, so I haven’t browsed through it. When I first started my blog, however, I noticed that one particular site kept showing up on my “Incoming Links” thingy. I went over to her blog and found that she makes pamphlets and videos. You had to become a member or something to view everything, so I never saw for sure what was going on. I started watermarking my photos, though, and I haven’t seen her back since! It’s a shame that we have to do that, but it’s like paying for an elaborate alarm system to keep bad guys out. The good guys are always the ones who pay! And I saw where OnceInABlueMoon wrote that international theft was shameless with them just putting their own banner over the top of the watermark. Crazy!!! You would think a watermark would be as such that no matter what you do it still would come through! These pirates really get my goat! We do all the work and get none of the credit…pitiful! Just pitiful…and criminal!!!

Oh Mary, This is jaw dropping gorgeous! I just love what you created here. Its so sweet with the twig theme and white. Your china with the birds, oh my goodness, its beautiful and the tea set of flowers.Your tablescape is breathtaking. The desert I know must be delicious and its also a work of art. Just so pretty on the colorful berries. I love all the nesting photos of the birdies and your nesting pillow. I think you are so creative in all you do.
I’m just getting to know my way around at Pinterest so I will keep an eye out. I do know I’ve seen my photos all over the internet, why anyone would want them besides me I don’t know but they’re out there. I did have someone copy all I was writing on ebay, word for word. I do understand how you feel.

Your nesting table is so special for fall. The whites in your table add such elegance to the rustic twigs and nests. I am in love with the Pepperidge Farm pastries – you may not believe this, but there is a Pepperidge Farm “Plant” (really a gigantic bakery) just down the road from me, how did I miss these! You have opened my eyes and I am on the hunt!

I noticed last week we had similar tables, and yours was stunning! I should do an ’empty-nesters’ table! I, like some of your other readers, do not know much about Pinterest, and I wouldn’t have a clue if anyone was using my photos, so great catch! Your photos are all so beautiful, but that’s just wrong!! Back to the white look, not only do you have great ideas, but your dialogue, so to speak, is just entertaining. I have, thus far, resisted Pinterest. I have enough trouble getting everything done! It’s terrible that your photos were used without permission or credit. I’ve even heard of written posts being stolen – very bad form.

I keep waiting for you to do something that makes me say, “Ho hum,” but I just know that is never going to happen. You have another winner here, Mary. Honestly I stalked that pillow at Pottery Barn for about a month before passing it up since I have absolutely no place to put it (this hasn’t stopped me before, mind you, but I also have no place to store it and that was what ultimately made my decision). I was so glad to see it so beautifully displayed here where I can occasionally come back and visit. I love the teapots — the one with the warmer in particular — and those puff pastry birds. Do you have a cutter like that or did you freehand them? Beautiful!
Watermarking photos is a good tip when dealing with Pinterest. I started doing that as well. I was surprised at how many of my blog photos had been pinned. Not only does watermarking give you copyright protection, but it also gives people an idea as to where to head to look for the recipe, instructions, or more information. So many times I’ve found photos on Pinterest and would like to learn more, but they’ve been pinned and re-pinned, and there’s no clue as to the origin.
I must confess that I am so in love with your work that I’ve pinned quite a few of yours.
