I’m taking a trip to the Farmers Market via the table!
I had a little tabletop inspiration with a trip to one of our local Farmers Markets to enjoy some farm fresh summer veggies and peaches while they last, soon to be replaced by fall’s bounty of apples, pumpkins and winter squash.
I also had some inspiration from a Farmers Market tray,
fresh for the picking from World Market. . .
. . . and some vintage-inspired Farmers Market seed cards to plant on the table.
A berry basket holds a medley of vine-ripened tomatoes, okra and South Carolina peaches, topped with some flowering basil.
And a zinc seed tray from my Potting Shed is offering this week’s Farmers Market harvest of zucchini, cukes, heirloom tomatoes, peppers, and fresh local eggs.
Rooster glasses are AWA certified and pastured, found foraging at Tuesday Morning.
And ears of fresh summer corn are *weighting* to be shucked ;)
Help yourself to a Farmers Market Bloody Mary!
Puree some summer heirloom tomatoes in a blender, strain the seeds and pulp to make fresh-from-the-garden tomato juice. Season your tomato juice with celery seed or salt, horseradish and tabasco to taste, a squeeze of lemon or lime, Worcestershire sauce and add your vodka.
Garnish and top with some garden fresh veggies: pickled okra, cucumber, heirloom cherry tomatoes, a sprig of parsley and basil and a celery stalk!
To savor the flavors of summer, help yourself to Farmers Market Pasta Salad, a bumper crop of delicious flavors in a pasta salad! Add some rotisserie chicken from the grocery store for a time saver and complete meal.
Corn, Tomato and Basil Pesto Pizza, a trio of summer flavors in every slice!
And infuse the flavor of summer in your salt for your tomato recipes this winter with an easy recipe for Basil Salt.

What a perfect end of summer table and display Mary! I saw that tray at WM and was very tempted, it looks so fabulous surrounded by summer’s bounty and a big red rooster! I love your plate stack topped with the ceramic produce baskets…we are of like minds this week as I am posting about fresh tomato bloody marys tomorrow! It is hard to resist the beauty of summer produce especially big fat red tomatoes and fresh corn so cheap you can fill a scale full! The farmer’s market chart is so cute, I would love to have one [Alabama] in my pantry! hmmm…you have given me a great idea!

Our farmers market is lush with summer bounty, and my little garden is yielding tomatoes and lettuce aplenty. How I love gathering some of what we eat from my very own garden! As always your presentation makes everything look better than good.
I don’t know where to start, Mary! First of all, I’m coveting your PB quilt…sigh! The enamelware with the rooster glasses are perfect for a Farmer’s Market theme. The basket chargers are wonderful for holding all those pretty dishes. Your food is always so colorful and inspirational. I’m ready for a picnic by your lakeside table!

I get so inspired to rush and shop every time I see one of your posts!
I have been eyeing that flatware for a while and the red berry baskets are a must have….but if I bring one more set of flatware or even one more dish into this cottage, the seams are going to burst and that will not be a pretty sight.
Maybe I need to have a gigantic yard sale and then start over…! My son keeps telling me I could stock a whole store already…

This is one of my favorite tables, Mary…♥ all the gorgeous colors of the fresh produce. I have to check myself when it comes to the farmers market…I have been known to buy more than we can consume before it goes bad, even though we eat them all 3 meals in the summertime. That rooster just adds so much to the table!

What a cute idea Mary! That tray with Farmer’s Market is my favorite piece here. We have a wagon tucked away that was given to our son when he was a little guy that’s just like the one on the sign. I’m pretty sure ours was probably smaller but just like it! Lol on the corn weighting to be shucked! All the vegetables look so enticing! Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

Oh Mary, if your table doesn’t say summer, I don’t know what does. That colorful, fresh produce is a lovely sight to behold!! I have been going to local Farmer’s Markets on Saturdays since before I got married. There’s just no better place for getting fresh fruit, vegetables, and beautiful flowers. I got some of the plants that I have on my front porch there earlier this summer. I really enjoy going to the Piedmont Farmer’s Market just outside of Greensboro.

I have ceramic ones that I got last year at Sur le Table, but I’ve packed them away and can’t remember where they are. :-D The story of my life. Your recipes look just delicious. Mary, I love this! There are so many elements in your layers, but that little tiny wheelbarrow is theft worthy! ;-). Also love the porcelain fruit pundits on the plates. I thought I had gotten some of those, but I am not sure where they are. Maybe I bought them in my dreams. ;-)
I am a huge quilt lover and seeing this one speaks summer to me. I have become a bit of a quilt hoarder, and when you can find them at K-Mart and Walmart for $25-$35 dollars, they beg to go home as tablecloths. Yours look like an antique, and I love it!

I do love going to all the farms and checking out what they have, especially down by the ocean. Something about that salt air! Maybe it makes the veggies taste better!

Hi Pinky, I found my scales from a dealer at a local antique mall. I think I paid around $25 each. I think anything under $35 is a good price for one depending on the condition :)
Your summer pizza would work very well on our dinner table especially now with corn and tomatoes at their best.
