I’m in a Plaid Tidings state of mind and Merry Motoring this week with a little Christmas tablescape blog hop fun!
I hung all the Santamobiles back on the tree from the Santa parade on the table and stopped in Ho-Ho-HomeGoods this week.
And I found this adorable Christmas truck salt and pepper shaker set. . .
Ready to sprinkle tidings of joy along with salt and pepper at the table.
This shiny aluminum truck was parked there too, winking and twinkling at me under the store lights.
I loaded up the truck bed with fresh greenery, shiny red ornaments, candy canes and tied it with a tartan bow for a centerpiece for the table.
Tartan napkins are folded into a Christmas tree shape placed on the center of the plate. Plaid Tidings gift tags and candy canes add a festive and seasonal touch to the tartan plates.
You can find a tutorial for how to make this Christmas tree napkin fold at Between Naps on the Porch. Susan used two napkins, a solid and a plaid which resulted in oh so cute contrasting design when she was done!
A 20-inch square napkin works best along with a fabric that has some body to it. My tartan napkins were a little soft, and a stiffer fabric would give you a crisper fold. Press your napkins with an iron first for best results.
Enjoy another Merry Motoring table, HERE.
For a girl who loves all thing plaid and Christmas, I just need to stay away from all the temptation out there! This is adorable, love those salt & pepper shakers! I think I need to hire a caterer for my Christmas Eve dinner party so I can just spend more time playing in the dishes!
I love all the Tartan!! I’m wondering, do you live next door to a Home Goods store?? LOL!! I wish I did..our Home Good Store is about a 30 minute drive and I’m lucky to get there twice a year!! On the other hand, I wouldn’t have room for all the stuff!! Nevertheless, your table is right in style this year..with the plaid and the trucks..thanks for sharing and the instructions for the Christmas tree napkin..LOVE IT ALL!!! 🎄🚘🎄🚘🎄
Thanks Ellen! Yes I drive by a HomeGoods about 3 times a week, it’s less than 10 miles away, too close for temptation. It’s also in a shopping center with Pier 1, T.J. Maxx and World Market. My hubby says it’s my Burmuda Triangle or quadriangle…I can get lost for hours. 🎄
LOL!!! 😄😄😄
So cute…I love it!!!….what great finds for your “keep on truckin” table! Of course you would create a most wonderful arrangement in the truck!…I love, love the napkin fold..Don’t know how I missed that at Susan’s!…Have a Very Merry Weekend Mary….I am sure you are getting some snow too!
I just am loving all your plaids, Mary, and your cute ornaments, and your cute s&p shakers!! The Christmas tree napkins make for a nice surprise on the plate. I need to make or buy some plaid napkins for something different around here!
You are the only blogger I read, primarily began because you are within a “long” stones throw from my daughter in Midland and niece in Huntersville. If you should ever need a fresh Frazier Fir Christmas tree, wreath, or greenery, just visit Kiser Christmas Trees in Concord. My daughter is there working herself to death making bows and whatever–tell her that her mom sent you for a good deal! And I just have to add that I am also hooked on Home Goods–best store ever!
Thank you Carolyn 🎄🎄🎄
I especially love this Tablescape. Creative , Festive and Beautiful. Merry Christmas Mary.🎄🎄🚗🚘
What a great find for you! Too cute! Our Home Goods is an hour away, probably a good thing as I’d be a frequent buyer. We have a TJMaxx which is o.k.,but HG is better. Liked your hubby’s joke, it made me chuckle, lol. Table is lovely!
The plaid tree napkins are so cute, I love them, you are so lucky to live so close to a Home Goods shopping area.
I think I may need counseling for my addiction to HomeGoods, lol. Love your new finds, all the plaid, just beautiful. Let’s keep on trucking! It is snowing here…so excited!!!!
Adorable S&P’s!!! Plaid is always a favorite of mine Mary, your table looks great and I’m sure it smells great too with the fresh cut greens:@)
Luv the little napkin Christmas tree…I did one several years ago…put a star swizzle stick
at the top…absolutely adore Tartan. Cars are the “in” thing this year…I’m doing, too! :) franki
What a great idea Franki! I was looking for a tree topper but couldn’t find one. I’ll be on the lookout for a swizzle stick 🎄🍸😀
I am a plaid lover. All of your plaid items are beautiful.
Joan
Your table is lovely. I love the salt and pepper set.
Marilyn
Mary Thank You for sharing. The trucks are so cute.

Mary, I just love your blog. There is not a Home good store anywhere around here, but I do enjoy what you find. I want to make dog treats for some of my friends for their doggies. After all doggies should get a present too. I wonder if I could use regular flour instead of wheat flour? Would it be alright to double the recipe? Some of these dogs are on the rather large size.
Nonie
Thank you Nonie! Yes, you can substitute regular flour and you should be okay doubling it. Yes, pups should have presents too! 🐾🐾🎁
Oh my Goodness! Love, Love, Love this table setting! So colorful and cheerful!
I have a weakness for trucks and tartan, and plaid, and buffalo check! This is wonderful!
What a fun tablescape, Mary! I just love the adorable salt and pepper shakers! You would make a great HomeGoods ambassador because you find the best things there and photograph them so beautifully! Hope you are enjoying the snow. We aren’t getting any, though.
I enjoy every segment you write! I am a dish fool! You are the first blogger I ever read and I will never quit as long as my fingers and eyes work! Have a very Merry Blessed Christmas!
Thanks so much Anita! I hope your eyes and fingers work for a very long time. :) Merry Christmas! 🎄
the plaid tree napkin is over the top cute Mary! The cars and trucks with trees are so hard to resist, just too cute! I loved your comment about your Bermuda quadrangle, that is too much temptation in one place! Of course you needed to get the silver truck to add to your fleet, so cute filled and surrounded with greenery! The S&P are irresistible also~ you are “on the road” to a very Merry season!
Jenna
Mary, I have such a thing for tartan these days! I love your new S&P, so cute and your centerpiece is fabulous! I always look forward to being at the table with you!
You always amaze me the napkins and the salt, pepper trucks and all the little trucks are amazing Thank you for sharing this adorable table
Plaid is fabulous, must be my Scottish genes breaking through. I got the Pottery Barn plaid tablecloth last year and am borrowing your ideas for those chargers and napkins.

Tree napkin fold makes me crazy Mary! I have a lot of plan for Christmas festival. Already I have taken some DIY project but I never want to miss tree napkin fold. Have a blessed Christmas
Just made the tree napkins and they are awesome! So cute. My napkins we 18 inches square and still turned out. For the star, I used cocktail toothpicks that have a glitter star at the top, so it slipped right down the top opening. Found the toothpicks in the dollar rack at Target. Thanks Mary!
Thanks for letting me know Cyndi, how festive!🎄🎄🎄 Love Target’s Dollar Spot 🎯😀
