These American flag napkin rings are a festive way to add a little sparkle and
a patriotic nod to your table for the Fourth of July, Flag Day or Veterans Day.
Best of all, you can assemble these napkin rings with a hands-on time of less than 10 minutes!
In addition to the hands-on time, you’ll need to allow for drying time for the adhesive,
which takes 24 hours to cure.
I used this set of four assorted American Flag Brooches
and set of beaded blue napkin rings.
In addition to the brooches and napkin rings,
you’ll need a pair of side cutting pliers and some adhesive;
I used E6000.
I used the same method as with my Bee-Jeweled Napkin Rings,
snipping off the pin and clasp on the back of the brooches with pliers,
so the pins sit flat on the napkin rings.
When all the pieces were snipped off,
I placed the napkin rings on a dish towel, to keep them stationary
and from rolling on the table and applied the glue to the pin backs.
Make sure you use enough adhesive for good contact but not so much that it might seep out
and be visible from underneath the pin.
E6000 starts getting tacky in approximately 2 minutes and begins setting in about 10 minutes.
Let your napkin rings sit undisturbed for 24 hours for the adhesive to cure.
Mine were secure after 24 hours but the E6000 packaging reads:
“Maximum bond strength may not be reached for up to 72 hours with temperature and humidity affecting dry time.”
Follow the directions / precautions on the back of the E6000 and apply in a well-ventilated area.
Tip: For future use and easy cap removal of E6000, apply a little petroleum jelly to the threads of the tube
before replacing the cap.
These napkin rings are easy to assemble and affordable too,
with the four napkin rings costing around $5 each.
You can customize these napkin rings using metal, resin or beaded rings
as your base and use the brooches of your choice.
are similar to ones I used for my Halloween napkin rings.
They remind me of fireworks and would make a festive base
for a flag pin! (They also come in blue.)
Update: It appears the assortment of brooches I originally used are sold out. :(
This set would make a festive napkin ring assortment
if you wanted to mix and match!
