I have a sweet treat to help you celebrate, Birthday Cake Oreo Truffles! These no-bake treats are a piece of cake to make, are topped with festive sprinkles and have the sweet birthday cake flavor in the creme filling of the Oreos.
January and February are birthday months in our family!
I whipped up a batch of these birthday cake truffles for a party this weekend in celebration of five family members birthdays, easier and more figure friendly than cake!
I used the same method as in my Red Velvet Oreo Truffles, but added frosting instead of cream cheese. You can mix up a batch with only four ingredients~ Golden Birthday Cake Oreos, candy coating or almond bark, a can of frosting and sprinkles.
Start by placing your Oreos in a food processor and pulse until they are fine crumbs.
Next add 3/4 of a can of frosting. (I used cream cheese frosting which I prefer over vanilla.) Add 2 tablespoons of sprinkles and pulse your mixture in the food processor until well combined.
Roll your cookie mixture into 1” sized balls. Place your balls on wax paper in the freezer 30 minutes until firm.
Melt your candy coating according to the package directions. I like the convenience of CandyQuik since it comes with a microwave disposable tray. You can substitute candy melts or chocolate chips if you prefer. You can find almond bark/candy coating on the baking aisle near the chocolate.
Place your chilled truffle ball on a fork, dipping it and rolling it in the melted candy coating. Once the ball is covered, tap the fork on the edge of the bowl to remove any excess and place your truffle ball on wax paper to set.
Add your decorative sprinkles right away while candy coating is still warm. The candy coating sets up quickly. Once your candy coating is set, you can tidy them up, trimming off any additional coating with a knife that has pooled on the bottom of the truffle. Serve in mini cupcake liners if desired. I used two per truffle with one turned inside out.
This recipe makes approximately 36 birthday cake truffles. You can find a printable recipe here.
You can make these truffles using the flavor or Oreo and frosting of your choice, for any holiday. I picked up some Wilton Color Flame Candles in the baking section. The flame burns the same color as the candle.
One candle is so much kinder and easier to blow out than 50+ :)
I am with you on the one candle is so much nicer!…..Love the birthday truffles!…I am all for the no-bake birthday cake!…Our family has lots of birthdays in January and February, including mine :) … Have a wonderful weekend Mary!!
OMG!!! These look so easy and good!! I love this idea..we too have many, many birthdays in January into February and I like this rather than a big cake full of candles that could be blown out by someone with a cold or on the verge of the flu…we did have someone blow out candles with a cold and several ended up with..the problem is, several are elderly and this is not good..I digress…these cake balls look so festive…thank you for sharing!!! 🎂🍡🍰🎂🍡🍰🎂🍡🍰
How festive! I make the Oreo chocolate truffles but this is a nice twist. Even though they’re easy, they do require undivided attention to the task due to the chocolate coating setting up so quickly.
This looks so cute and delicious!! I’m hosting a dinner party this Saturday and I just might make this as one of the desserts!! Thanks so much for sharing!!
What a perfect birthday treat, Mary! Your family members are lucky recipients of goodies. I’d love one to celebrate my birthday, and they’re so cute! Thanks for the info on the Wilton candles, too.
Happy weekend to you, Mary! xo
What an adorable way to serve these truffles Mary! Simply genius! I love Birthday Cake Oreos, and I can only imagine how good they taste mixed with icing and covered in white chocolate. These would be great for children’s birthday parties, and they look so festive! Darling idea, and interesting about the candles~ Happy warm weekend!

Mary, I am so excited to see this post! My daughter loves birthday cake anything! I am going to make a batch of these and send them to her at college. I love the extra touches you add, turning the liners inside out, adding a candle. You always inspire me to create! Your blog always adds sunshine to my day. :) Thank you.
Such a good idea! I’m going to make them for Easter Sunday dessert for the grandkids! Thinking of floral sprinkles and nestling them in a tray of Easter grass on my bunny platter. Thank you for sharing this, Mary. Rosie @ The Magic Hutch
Hi Mary, I love all the new Oreo varieties! Your bite size truffles would be perfect for lunch with girlfriends too. We seem to have most of our birthdays in September and October here, and even new family members fit the pattern. Happy Birthday to all the lucky people in your family who enjoyed these delicious treats! Linda
I think I’m going to let my grandchildren help make these when they come for Easter. The pastel colors will be perfect for an Easter activity without the candle. Love how the two inside out liners look.
