This is Lola and Sophie, and we’re guest posting for our mom today. She’s been really busy gardening so we told her she could have the day off and we’d fill in for her.
Life has been different since mid-March. Our dad and mom are both home all the time now which we really like! We get to go on a lot more walks these days. . .
We met some new friends but were careful to observe our social distancing and stay a safe 6 feet away. Sophie said these were the biggest dogs she’d ever seen. . .
I’m the older sister (and wiser 🐾) so I knew they were donkeys, not dogs, and don’t really like to play.
Their names are Jimmy and Jack. Jimmy is the woolly, larger one and is a mammoth donkey. Jack is a Jerusalem donkey and has the cross on his back.
Our mom says the next time she goes to the grocery store, she’ll pick up some carrots and we can feed them.
We got to go to camp one day last week and play with the other dogs in what seems like forever! They have curbside service for dogs these days. Our collars and leashes stay home and someone comes to get us out of the car and take us inside using the camp’s leash / lead so we can all stay safe.
We’ve been sitting outside a lot more and watching the water. . .every day feels like the weekend so we don’t know what day of the week it is anymore.
Our mom and dad always comment on how the water changes with the clouds. . .
My mom said this photo is a perfect example as you can see how much bluer the water is on the right because of the sky and fewer clouds.
Our mom likes seeing the Snowball Viburnum blooms by the water.
She has a couple of snowball viburnum bushes . . . we think it’s because she likes things that are white and fluffy. . .🐾🐾
We like to be outside with our mom and dad while they work on projects.
We sat and enjoyed the breeze while we watched our dad clean the boat last week. . .
And we like to supervise when they’re outside gardening and watch the birds, squirrels and bunnies.
Mostly, we just nap in the shade.
Our mom has to put an old sheet down and lays some chair cushions out for us to nap on. If she doesn’t lay the sheet out first, we dig through the gravel to the dirt to sniff the smells. We don’t mean to but we get our faces dirty and Mom says it looks like it’s going to be awhile before we see the groomer again.
Lola and Sophie are adorable and very into their work! Nice commentary girls. Have fun and you stay safe also…. Hope you get some extra treats for a job well done.
enjoy the rest of your weekend! 🐾
What a wonderful, dreamy day at the lake. Much time to reflect and meditate on God’s canvas of His creation. Puppies are adorable! 🐩🐩🐾
Thank you for sharing, you are very blessed.
The girls are very observant! I can remember my oldest daughter once commented (while we were driving along WV country roads where the cows were grazing), “look at those big dogs, Daddy!” Your surroundings are a beautiful place (and this is a beautiful time!) to be stuck at home. Enjoy!
I’ve always enjoyed your blog but this one made my day. Lola and Sophie are so cute and such great bloggers, thank you. I lost my fur-babies and haven’t had the heart to love again just yet.
Thanks Sophie & Lola for a wonderful blog. My mom said I won’t see my groomer for a while either and pretty soon I’ll have a hard time seeing. I really enjoy when you two take over. Your friend Mari, the Havanese.
Thank you Lola and Sophie for letting us see what been going in in your world these days! The photos were beautiful and the sunset was amazing, and perfect with the quote. Happy weekend! 🐾❤️🐾
I love donkeys! Years ago, our pastor’s xmas message was all about the donkey and how important he is to the Christmas story. That started my affinity! Sophie snd Lola are excellent bloggers already! Give them an extra treat today for bringing some joy to me on this rainy, Saturday morning in Coastal VA!
What a delightful way to start the day!
You’ve done such a fine job on this post, Lola and Sophie! In addition to all her other outstanding gifts it’s clear that your Mom is doing a wonderful job home schooling you during these “different” days.
Stay sweet and safe!
Great job, girls! Your choices and commentary are terrific! You deserve an A+ for this post! I better step up my work with my two fur kids! Enjoy your time visiting the donkeys too!
The girls did a great job! Bet you are ordering extra treats; exploring the beautiful countryside stirs the appetite . Love all the pictures. Happy Saturday! Clara ♥️
Do you two even have any idea how lucky you are to be living the life you are? I agree with one of your other fans that both your Mom and Dad are doing a wonderful job of home schooling. You both seem to have picked right up on this blogging thing. With every swipe of my finger over your text, my smile grew just a little wider. Thanks for that.
I don’t think I have ever seen you guys confined to a crate before. I appreciate your Mom telling us how she arranged all the layers in order to keep you not only safe, but clean at the same time!! Take care of each other.
Thank you Lola and Sophie for a wonderful peek at lake life these days! I know you’re so happy to have your mom and dad home all the time! It is hard to remember what day it is…I am kind of loving this relaxed {when you don’t watch the news} life style!

Absolutely beautiful! I’m intrigued by your fence/pen and think it would work for my Rosie. She loves being outside with me but will get distracted and walk off when I’m busy! Beautiful day at Lake Norman. Thank you Lynn
I absolutely love these pictures!!! Being outside as much as possible makes this tolerable. Lola and Sophie are so beautiful!!! Enjoy your sunshine and warmth. Maine is still cold. April can be the cruelest month here!! Your posts make me so happy!!
Lola and Sophie, you are adorable! Lola, you made me laugh out loud regarding your comment that Sophie thought the donkeys were big dogs! Glad you set her straight. 😄 I didn’t know about the Jerusalem donkey having a cross on its back, what a special marking! Thank you for sharing such great pictures and letting us see what your days are like. We love you and your momma for bringing us some southern charm and joy. ♥️🐾♥️🐾 Happy weekend. 😉
Outstanding job girls! Tell Mom she should worry… cause you both did an awesome job!
And I just now know what day it is cause you told me it was the weekend!
Lola and Sophie I am thinking you two could start your own blog, very nice. Thank you also for the sunset photo and the quote. Have a great weekend.
P.S. my Goldendoodle, Lucky, is looking a little “ruff” right now and is in need of a groomer’s appointment.
You girls are lucky little ladies! Sadie feels much the same as you. She isn’t as eager for all the extra walks though being that she is of an older generation than you two chicks. She likes to play with the Great Dane across the street. He’s about the size of your donkey friends. Sadie got to take a shower at home instead of going to her groomer. She didn’t mind much, so we may do it more often. Tell your mom the the snowball blooms are fabulous. Wish I had a bush here. Take care and enjoy these times of quality time together with your mom and dad. You girls stay safe and healthy, and make sure your mom and dad do too.
Love love loved your walk and dog talk! Wonderful to see a new glimpse into all your lives.I hear you on being busy, I love my husband home 24/7, I just woke him up this morning to tell him it’s the longest we’ve been together what did he think, I think he really thought bad timing!
My iris are starting strong and every day I can’t get out fast enough, clematis and roses do tiny teases too, yesterday I mowed all ten acres on my riding mower bumbee, next week in the 80s, who knew a blooming garden could steal every minute of your day 😉! Well, I think your girls know too! Thank them for the tour, my garden is calling!
Dear Lola and Sophie…thank you for letting us in on your adventures of late. You must be thrilled to have mom and dad at home these days. Enjoy your walks and watching the sunsets and stay away from those “big dogs” and tell your mom that my new Snowball Viburnum is blooming!…:)
Thanks for showing us around the gardens, and we thought the donkeys were funny looking horses ! We like to watch our mummy too and get in her way as she is trying to make the bed and clean, we are not allowed to go outside for we are kitty cats. But, we have a big window we can watch the birds from, and take naps in We love to take naps!! And here is a trick for getting extra treats , just keep being a pest until you get a lot !!
Well, you to white fluffy pups stay healthy, and you are both adorable girls!! Take extra special care of your mum & dad , these are strange times them always being home I know !!
Hugs from , Goldie, Sophie, Sugar and Baby xoxo
p.s. we are not really British , but mummy think if we talk it would be with British accent like Peter Rabbit !!
What a small world we live in! I’ve enjoyed your blog for many years, as we have a place on Lake Norman and have yet to make the transition to full time residents, you give me the opportunity to live the lake life while we are not there. Much to my surprise, while reading this post, I recognized the street that your hubby is walking down – the same street we “live” on!!! So I just wanted to leave a post and say howdy neighbor! We’re looking forward to coming down as our stay at home order is lifted.
Such a good job filling in for your busy mom!!! I loved the little tour and getting to meet the donkeys. After all that, I have decided that when I die, I want to come back as a dog next time and get to live with your mom and dad. You girls have THE LIFE!!! XOXO
