We’ve been moving and spreading mountains of mulch, around The Potting Shed
and garden beds to keep the weeds down and moisture in,
in anticipation of spring and gardening season.
Are you familiar with the superstition of saying “Rabbit, Rabbit” on the first day of the month?
According to superstition, you should say or repeat the word “rabbit” or “rabbits”
out loud upon waking on the first day of the month,
because doing so will ensure good luck for the duration of that month.
Spring arrives Tuesday, March 19th (by the calendar anyway :)
for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere
and Easter is early this year, falling on March 31st!
As we’re 18 days closer to hopping into spring, I have some “rabbit, rabbits” to bring good luck,

I’m ready for Spring! We’ve made it through the first rounds of pollen here on the Gulf coast and are about to be inundated with spring breakers but it’s chilly and rainy this morning. Going to try the bunny ears salad! It looks delicious.

I’m envious of your weather, we’re trying to enjoy the large storm rolling through NorCal with the hope it is the last of the season. We’re anxious to get to work in the garden once our temperatures bump up a bit.

I want to copycat everything, but I’d never get it done. I so admire you and the way your accomplish all that you do. Just looking at the mound of mulch makes me tired. How do you get it all done?

Oh, Mary! I so needed this! It snowed day before yesterday here. I am so ready for these cold gloomy grey wet days to be behind us for a little while. However it is warmer today so I put away my bird bath warmer. The water may freeze overnight, but won’t stay completely frozen now I don’t think. THAT is a good indicator of spring coming, haha. I had my dark purple crocus bloom too and my daffodil greens are about 6 inches above earth now. Bring it on, sunshine!

We have had some very warm days and my only fear / concern is everything will start growing and get near the budding stage and because our frost date is in effect until May 30th, we’ll get slammed with a horrible Jack Frost dip and he’ll burn/ ruin all our precious buds. 😣.

I haven’t seen ‘Miss Potter’, I’ll have to add it to my watch list, thank you for your recommendation! 🐇 We’ve had unseasonably warm weather too, I always worry about the hydrangeas and viburnum buds getting frosted nipped when that happens. We lost our first flush of Endless Summer Hydrangeas blooms a couple of years ago when we had 70 degree temps in February and then a hard frost in March. Fingers crossed for lots of springs buds and blooms for you and me too! 🌸💗

So love every pic, I need to do a bunny round up myself! Love your mulch pile, I’m ready for truckloads of mulch myself as soon as the rain stops. Thank heavens we have a tractor, I don’t envy you with a pitch fork! I use laundry baskets for tight areas, more bang for your buck verses a pitch fork 😉
