St. Patrick’s Day has always been a favorite holiday of mine…and to celebrate I’ve been making Irish Soda Bread (from a recipe I picked up at Kathleen’s Irish Shop Portland Oregon in 1979!) every year. I receive your lovely emails and have been following your blog for over 5 years. Will pin the Irish Stout Soda Bread recipe and may have to try making it this year! Happy St. Patrick’s Day and thank you for your delightful posts!

Next to Corned Beef and Cabbage I am a big potato fan! But not just any potato. There is nothing better than home grown! Any more I am so disappointed if I eat a potato from the store. The flavor is just not there! Last year I got a little carried away and planted 100 potatoes – 4 different varieties. Needless to say I love a good pot of Irish Potato Soup or a fluffy bowl of Irish whipped potatoes! Lots of butter please!

Top o’ the morning to you Mary ~ what a beautiful post this morning. It’s such a gray morning here in NW CT and your gorgeous pictures have brightened my morning coffee. My favorite Irish food is delicious Irish Soda Bread right out of the oven with some delectable Irish butter spread lightly on top and a cuppa Irish Breakfast tea. I am a very happy longtime reader of your blog. I also pinned a picture of your pretty Belleek China to my Pinterest board, Irish Eyes are Smiling. Hugs, Dorinda

My father took me to a St. Patrick’s Day parade when I was ten years old. He died two months later in a car accident. That was 63 years ago. Every St. Patrick’s Day was such a sad day for me for years. Then I decided to celebrate his wonderful smile and laugh and celebrate in a meaningful way. For many years, I invited my best friends over for dinner and set a lovely table. For the past six years, it has just been me and my hubby. Your tablescapes are such an inspiration. I always add them to my Pinterest tablescape pages. Than you for the joy you give me.

I always make Irish stew, corned beef and cabbage or Rueben corned beef sandwiches on St. Patrick’s Day. I have tried many of your recipes over the years. Always wonderful and my husband reads some of your recipes too. He never makes them. He only says, “This is a good one. Try it this week.” I usually do. That’s why we have been married 55 years.

  70. February 26, 2024 at 3:58 pm

What a lovely post! I am in love with your Belleek Teapot. We went to Ireland a few years ago and I brought back a Belleek vase. Now I want more. Have a beautiful week!

Dear Mary, I do so enjoy your posts. I feel as if you just took me om a wee trip to Ireland. The whirlwind three days I got to spend in Wexford, Dublin and Waterford nearly 30 years ago only left me wanting more. Your decor and taste treat delights have inspired me! My favorite Irish food? Seriously? It’s all delicious, but I’d have to say my Grandmother’s Irish Cake recipe, Irish Stew and potato soup must be my favorites because they’re the ones I make most often. I didn’t even realize her recipes were “Irish” until I started doing a bit of research. Thank you for all the inspiration through the years. It’s always a treat to view your posts.

  72. February 26, 2024 at 5:34 pm

I like to make Irish Lamb Stew and Irish Soda Bread on St. Patrick’s Day. I love your Beleek pieces and was inspired enough by the house teapot to go on Ebay and find my own! I already had the beehive. Love putting them out with a couple of other pieces on my entrance hall table this time of year. I am always inspired by your beautiful tablescapes, whatever the occasion or season.

Oh Mary – this post is so sigh-worthy I have no words. I am Irish on both sides of my parents and St. Patrick’s Day is a huge family day for us. After my mom passed away my Dad treated all five of his kids to 3 glorious weeks touring Ireland with a church group. Those are some of the very best memories of my life. We took over the back of the bus to be sure! My fav Irish food was their brown bread with their local butter. I was a vegetarian then and I lived on that, I tell ya! YUM! And I know it isn’t common knowledge but their trout there is really popular. And a half pint of Guinness with a splash of black currant juice – daily things, those.

Your giveaway made me literally squeal out loud. Please please please sign me up! I looooove ST. PD!! ♣♣♣♣♣♣♣

I’m lucky enough to be Irish and I love apples, so naturally the Irish Apple cake would be a favorite (along with the dog treats for my yellow lab)! Is the brown bread similar to the bread served at the Cheesecake Factory? Looks delicious!

Hope all is well with you and your family as we head into Spring weather!

Your Lucky Popcorn is fabulous and since I use Bailey’s Irish Cream quite often, I will want to try your homemade Irish Cream. I always enjoy your posts your dog photos are darling.

Good morning,Mary. I always love these holiday recaps of yours and the girls dressed up doesn’t hurt either. I usually make corned beef and cabbage in my crockpot; I guess that’s easiest for me and it always turns out tender. I have been a long time subscriber. Also just want you to know I did strike gold on my last marathon Home Goods run finding not only the Vicki Sawyer like napkins but also a matching tablecloth! Maybe our Midwestern locations are behind those on the coast. Sometimes your posts get me in trouble (wink, wink). To tell the truth I manage to get in trouble quite well on my own!
