Start by soaking some Oasis or florist foam in water, a minimum of 30 minutes is best. Oasis foam is easy to penetrate with delicate stems and will hold the water that is needed to help keep your arrangement fresher for an extended period of time.
Cut your pumpkin lid off & remove seeds and scrape to make room for soaked foam. You don’t have to be super neat with the inside. I lined the pumpkin with a few plastic bags to keep any additional water from the oasis away from the bottom of the pumpkin to keep it a little drier & help it last longer. My foam is wedged in tightly, so I didn’t need to use floral tape to hold the foam in place.
Search for leaves, foliage, berries~ anything that has great color or form. I cut some Sweetgum leaves/branches as the base structure. I added apples on florist picks next (you could use sturdy twigs if you don’t have picks).
Add your next largest flower~ in this case, I found roses that were a great color and price at Super Target, but normally I go to Trader Joe’s for great flower selection. I added mums next, then filled in with bits of leaves and shrubbery clippings for filler.
If you make your centerpiece a couple of days in advance, keep it out of direct sunlight and preferably some place cool like a garage or porch to slow down the evaporation process and keep your flowers looking fresh.

isn’t that gorgeous! it looks just like my tday table, all picked fresh from the garden, except the pumpkin~ i love that extra touch, so pretty! the roses are such a pretty color… it must smell fabulous!
love your slide show girl, you are turning pro! it is so pretty outside, i want MORE!
Gorgeous color of roses and absolutely perfect for a Thanksgiving table. Your entire arrangement is glorious. I like the idea of using the pumpkin as the vase. All your recent videos have been great!
Stunning flower arrangement. I love the color of those roses. I have used them before in Fall arrangements but can’t think of the name of them. I also like the idea of using a fresh pumpkin as your container.
I did this a few years ago with my daughter’s NCL group but your results are way more beautiful with the natural Autumn leaves combined with the tinted roses. I reeeaaally liked your arrangement. It’s gorgeous!
Loved the plaid table cloth, the stemmed goblets and the entire Autumn colored theme. I am so loving the Autumn/Thanksgiving color scheme. I’ve seen some Christmas decorations already but I think Thanksgiving belongs to Autumn. (The day after….ok -the pointsettias get planted).

This is a lovely centerpiece. I’ve always wanted to use a pumpkin for a container, but I’ve never done it. I love the name of your blog!
