I hung a wreath in welcome to greet family for Thanksgiving, adding a turkey plate to the center of a fall wreath for a quick and easy embellishment!
Here is the before of my DIY Welcome Fall Wreath, that made the transition from discount to designer, with the addition of natural elements.
I like to enjoy my turkey plates beyond the table! My proud Tom turkey plate (Victorian English Pottery Turkey by Edward Challinor) is ready to greet family members for Thanksgiving! I found the plate at HomeGoods and you can see them at my Thanksgiving table here.
Here’s a view from the back:
I added a hanger to the plate and used a plain metal shower curtain ring to attach to the plate holder and to hang over the wreath hanger. The shower curtain ring clips closed so it’s a safe and secure to hold the plate.
I attached some clear adhesive bumpers to the back of the plate, to prevent it from banging against the door and to protect the plate as the door opens and closes. The bumpers absorb vibration and are removable. I found the bumpers at Walmart but cork or felt disks/ pads that go on the bottom of furniture legs to protect your floors would work too.
Do you have a recipe for a Happy Thanksgiving?
Here’s mine and it’s easy. . .
Wine, Pie, Repeat :)
Chloe & Gracie wish you a Safe & Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Turkey Day to you, too Mary! Very creative idea to add that pretty plate behind the wreath. I am going to try to remember to do that to one of my Christmas wreaths. I have LOTS of Christmas plates, as you well know. LOL
Love the look of that yummy pie.
First time in over 30 years that I don’t have to cook! DD has finally stepped up. Whew!
I have been trying to figure out how to use my Christmas plates in a wreath and haven’t been able to…..only you could come up with this! Thanks! Wake up every morning excited to see what you have shared! Thanks for sharing all your creative ideas with food, entertaining and décor. Happy Thanksgiving
Love the wreath and love love love those bichoens! I have a cavashon,(cavalier&bicheon) her tongue is always out! She is looking forward to turkey day. Many blessings to you and your family.
Oh boy, another excuse to buy a plate :) This is ADORABLE Mary, and what a clever way to hang it! I like your formula for a happy Thanksgiving, wine-pie-repeat! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your fluffy white turkeys, gobble gobble!

Beautiful and clever wreath, Mary. No cooking for me, either, as my home is still under reconstruction from the “Great Flood of 2016” here in S. Louisiana. Still looking forward to being with family…..enjoy your day on that lovely lake…

I follow 2 blogs, yours and Naps on the porch. When I say follow, I mean steal! I always find great ideas! We celebrated Thanksgiving with the kids last weekend in the mountains up at the lake and I could not wait til it was over to announce we are going to do a fishing tree for Christmas! We found so many things to put on it. I collect all these things and display them above my double doors so what a great idea! I have a new appreciation for our pontoon and now have pillows and blankets to go with it. The recipes are great as well and I am a true gardener and envy your potting shed. You have such incredible ideas and I bet I try half of them!!! When I saw the wreath today I thought I just had to write and let you know how much I love your Blog. Thank you for making my day!
Gorgeous wreath, only made more gorgeous with the addition of the turkey plate! I hope your Thanksgiving was as spectacular as all of your divine posts. You are such an inspiration, I am in awe of your talents. Thank-you for taking time to share on Thanksgiving Day too!
