Happy Tuesday!
The weather has been beautiful and the skeleton crew, aka, Rod and Rowena,
decided some alfresco dining was in order!
Halloween is a week away and Rowena set a festive table
in celebration!
She pulled out her new Johanna Parker Halloween tablecloth,
which coincidentally matches her apron!
She packed her favorite picnic tins, filled with Halloween treats.
They’re serving as a centerpiece for the table,
along with a smiling metal Jack-o’-lantern.
Rod and Rowena are both wine enthusiasts.
Sometimes Rod just wants to drink wine and pet his dogs . . .
Bona Lisa and Bone-ita.
And on special occasions, Rowena loves indulging in
her favorite champagne and candy corn pairing.
Fright Night Cellars is their favorite red blend, purchased on their last visit to
the California wine country.
Rowena decided to embellish the wine bottle with
one of her DIY Halloween Napkin Rings.
Rowena likes to keep the ‘Happy’ in Halloween
and doesn’t like anything too scary . . .
Or too spooky.
When it comes to Halloween, she and Rod both
are all about the treats!
She and Rod love to eat candy corn by the handful.
Candy corn is easily Rod’s candy of choice.
This mason jar of candy corn will be gone in no time!
Rowena’s a little worried about Rod, as he can’t seem to keep any weight on,
so she picked up some other candy treats to tempt him . . .
Let’s see what she packed. . .
Chocolate skulls and skellies!!
Rod’s grinning from ear to ear with no worries of tooth decay!
He can’t wait to sink his teeth into a Butterfinger Skull!
Rowena is looking forward to her favorite mini candy bar,
a Kit Kat Breaking Bones White Creme Candy Bar.
They have the cracking of crispy wafers and the frightful flavor of bone-white creme!
Rowena says it’s not Halloween without Halloween Oreos in 5 spooky designs. . .
She always picks up an extra package to make
And it’s not Halloween without some Peeps!
Rod loves to roast the Marshmallow Ghosts Peeps by the fire pit. . .
And Rowena loves making Ghostly Peeps Brownie S’mores. . .
And it’s tradition to warm up with Halloween Peeps Hot Chocolate.
The temperature is on the rise and it’s going to be 76 degrees
on Thursday and 80 degrees by Saturday,
so Rod and Rowena are planning to go for
Rod refers to Rowena as his ‘Hallo Queen’ but
Rowena is a self-declared ‘Pontoon Queen’.
They both enjoy a boat ride and lake life!
Rowena can’t believe that Halloween is a week away
and Thanksgiving, just a month away from yesterday!
Rowena moves a lot slower than she used to, and decided she needs to get started
on her Thanksgiving preparations immediately!
Just the thought of all that grocery shopping, cooking and cleaning
makes her want to rest her weary bones.
Behind the scenes:
I’m ready to rest my weary bones too. ;)

Mary~ what an adorable and colorful post! I look forward to anything with Rod and Rowena, and if you’re not in the Halloween spirit after that, I feel sorry for you !!! Hugs, Dorinda
Rod and Rowena know how to celebrate Halloween in style! What fun for children and adults!
Lol, this is fabulous. I’m so glad you posted that behind the scenes photo. I was scrolling up and down, trying to figure out the logistics. Were you actually in the pontoon a time or two, shooting the pics? It would appear so, with the great angles and framing. The script cracked me up, especially on the lines of not having to worry about cavities and sinking their teeth into the candies. Another great Rod & Rowena adventure. I love the tablecloth and salad plates.
Mary, no one does Halloween like you! The skeleton crew manages to have a lot of fun. I would love to have a little dockside dining. Candy corn is a weakness, and please pass me a butterfinger skull or two. Your details are amazing. Thank you for the fun start to a Tuesday 🎃🧡🎃
Mary… I can’t tell you how excited I am in the morning when I open my emails and find one from you!!! It starts my morning off with a smile.
THANKS
I so enjoy your Rod and Rowena posts. Your creativity knows no boundaries! I do wish I had Rod’s inability to gain weight as I think I like candy as much as he does! Peace.
Your dockside Halloween table is so fun and pretty! Love the tablecloth! The tins of candy are such a good idea. The candies look delicious. I love your metal jack o lantern and cute spooky plates. They are adorable! There are a lot of moving parts behind the scenes. It’s a lot of work! I am amazed you can actually do all that work and not make a misstep into the lake! I’m so clumsy at times that either I, the wagon or the table would have a mishap! Congrats to solid footing and good wagon steering. Always love the happy narrative. You are amazing Mary! Clara❤️
Ah hah, I have been wondering how you get your things for your tablescapes and vignettes on the boat and pier. That looks like a handy wagon! Rowena really out did herself for their Alfresco Halloween celebration, I love the centerpiece with the candy tins and cute Jack o’lantern. The plates are so cute, and Rod looks like he’s enjoying himself immensely! You found so many cute Halloween candies and treats, I love the Halloween Oreos and Peeps! It’s all so much fun! Make sure Rod and Rowena don’t take a boat ride without you this weekend, it’s going to be so nice!

Oh my, Mary, what a fun, creative post with Rod and Rowena! You go through a lot of work to make it all so enjoyable for us. I don’t know how you do it all, but thank you for showing us the behind the scenes. All those candy choices so I’m refunded and I’d be happy with all of them. As always, I appreciate all that you do. 🧡
You are so clever! I enjoy all your posts but especially the Halloween!! I’m glad you showed us what a load you had to carry to the dock for our enjoyment! Thank you and Happy Halloween!!
Mary, Rod and Rowena’s adventures are just too much fun! Such a beautiful place to enjoy a picnic. The plaid picnic tins are too cute along with your plates. Love Johanna Parker’s decor.
The candy assortment is amazing and I am thrilled rod is eating his share. Kudos to Rowena too. Always a pleasure to visit and see what you are up to.
Mary, you are the queen of Halloween fun! All of your Halloween decor is adorable, and the tablecloth is precious! The treats look so yummy! Candy corn and Butterfingers are my favorites. I have so enjoyed my visit today! Wishing you a wonderful week, sweet friend!
I was so busy at work today I had to wait all day to read your post; quelle horreur!! As they say, good things come to those who wait and I was rewarded with Rowena enjoying candy corn and champagne, which is something I can truly appreciate. I love all the details in the photos and know you’ve certainly earned your own glass of champagne after working all month to bring us Halloween fun.
I’d love to see Rod captaining the boat around the lake, with Rowena, you and your husband lounging in another area of the boat. Your husband could rig something up so he’s controlling the helm from another place on the boat. The looks you would get would be priceless. Of course, I have no doubt your husband would be thrilled to get a “honey-do” request from one of your subscribers (forgive me)!
What a pair! They certainly live a life of leisure dockside and cruising on the lake. What other skelton couple leads such a wonderful, treat filled life? Always fun to spot them out enjoying the good life!
Mary, I always so enjoy a good adventure with Rod and Rowena! The tablecloth is adorable and I love the plates. Such wonderful candy treats – sure to tempt anyone. I love the pic with Rod’s hand in the candy corn and the behind the scenes is priceless. You deserve a treat after all that! I hope you all enjoy your pontoon ride and 80 degrees sounds heavenly. We have snow here. Ugh.
So life your timeless enthusiasm for life 🙏
