My favorite all time food for Thanksgiving is my Mom’s bread/giblet stuffing! Se makes it from memory and I still haven’t got it right! Also we are a football family! My husband and I coached-he football and I coached cheerleaders so Thanksgiving Day always started with our high schools annual Turkey day game! Go Sachems🏈!

Hi Mary. I love following your post and seeing all the fabulous decor you create. Reading through these recipes has me so drooling with anticipation of trying a couple out this year. I always love gathering with friends and family and sharing good food and fun times. One of my favorite dishes is sweet potato compote with toasted marshmallows on top. This is one of my mother’s specialties and every year we all get a kick out of betting on weather or not she pulls it out from under the broiler before they burn. Thank you for sharing these recipes! Good morning Mary, as fast as our America is trying to change, its traditional dishes at our house. To me nothing is more important than keeping the heritages that we’ve known our whole life and passing those on to the next generation or two. Dressing and turkey gravy is at the top of my list.
My favorite Thanksgiving dish is my mom’s cranberry fluff. Like Watergate salad that was served for other holidays the cranberry fluff is a staple at Thanksgiving and Christmas. It has pieces of fresh cranberry, nuts, pineapple,and cool whip. Whenever I taste this it brings back memories of past holidays with family and friends.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It speaks of family, home, autumn colors and of course, gratitude. I love having my family around the table as we each take time to share what we are thankful for that year. This year for me – a new great-niece! Thank you for the opportunity to win a “Tom” plate.

Hello Mary, I recently retired after 52 years in the corporate world and began to follow your blog. Your work is incredible! I love your story lines, photography and creativity. In fact, I love the whole package and that is what I love about Thanksgiving. The entire experience of prepping and cooking the meal, the smells that bring forth and generate new memories, spending time with family and friends represents Thanksgiving. Even with my busy career I always took the time to embrace the holidays and am excited to continue the tradition. Keep up the good work and I anxiously look forward to upcoming posts. My favorite Thanksgiving food is hands down Pumpkin pie. It brings me back to my childhood. My mom made the best. I still haven’t been able to make one quite as good as her. I always got to test her pies to make sure they were perfect. Your recipes look amazing and I just might have to try a new pumpkin one.

My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is having all 24 members of our family together around 3 very long tables..I have some turkey plates but a new one would be a great addition…I mix my turkey plates with my brown transferware…makes a nice table…last year I made feathered headdresses out of fun foam for everyone and we all wore them at dinner..it was quite comical but they all loved it…my favorite food is my sage dressing that was mom’s recipe…I could eat it instead of turkey…thanks for another great giveaway and GOOD LUCK to all!! 🦃🦃🦃

Good morning, Mary! Everyone of your recipes I have made have been just wonderful. Your presentations make me want to achieve the same! We are pretty traditional with turkey, dressing, green bean casserole plus more! We usually try one new recipe. Last year my husband and I went to ND to spend Thanksgiving w/ our daughter and her family up there; it was the last holiday we had w/ him. This year I will be hosting w/ my oldest granddaughter and her family in attendance. I have also invited a long time friend and her hubby who is ill.

Thanksgiving just would not be right if we did not have salmon salad.It’s a recipe that my husband’s mother made.She would not share the recipe but I watched her make it a 100 times.Got it down pretty good.It’s made using canned milk and soda crackers.Now my husband is the only one who eats it but after almost 59 years together I am happy to make it for him !

Love the Tim turkey plates and saved two of them. Especially love the farm with the windmill. Favorite Thanksgiving food is dressing- I love to use leftover biscuits bread cornbread and begin saving odds and ends to freeze to use for the dressing. I use a bag of cornbread stuffing mix to supplement as well. We also have fruit salad with whipped cream served in a beautiful Lenox fluted bowl. I love Thanksgiving and decorating my home for fall. My favorite tradition is that we share the holiday for the last 25 years with family friends switching from home to home every year. Our kids have grown up together and now come from different locations to spend the day/weekend. Hard to pick favorite dish, but if I must, mashed potatoes and gravy. I have been thinking of collecting different plates and this post convinced me. Going out to shop today for some. My favorite Thanksgiving tradition was getting up at 3am and going to downtown Detroit. For several years, I was a volunteer for our Thanksgiving Day Parade Company. My job was to dress the clowns and put on their makeup. I also was a float handler and supervised various groups and their particular company themed float. My life was so full all those Thanksgiving mornings. When the Parade started down Woodward Avenue, the magic began. Everyone was filled with the wonder of fantasy and the joyous celebration of our Thanksgiving tradition in Detroit.

My favorite Thanksgiving recipe/tradition is one that is actually a recent addition to our family. My brother started making these incredible day-after Thanksgiving paninis. He takes all the leftovers (turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy and even some cranberry sauce), adds some cheese, puts it between bread and toasts it in the panini press. OMG they are so good. I can hardly wait for Thanksgiving and the day after!
I love Thanksgiving and every one of these recipes is a winner! I love trying to recreate memories for my family by trying to make dressing just like their moms/grandmoms made it. I’m not sure I ever truly succeeded, but it is fun trying!!!
Mary, you delight me! My favorite tradition/food for Thanksgiving is dressing. Mother didn’t have a recipe but it was better than any other. I stood by her side, recorded each ingredient and stage, but I have never made it as good as hers. Now, besides that dressing, we have vegan dressing since we have two vegans and one vegetarian in the family. My daughter developed this recipe and it’s surprisingly good!

Mary you always have wonderful posts. I have made several of you recipes over the years. So far I have made 3 pumpkin with cream cheese swirl loaves in the same pan for myself and gifts. This year I’m making the Caramel-Pecan-Pumpkin bread pudding. It’s like you are joining my Thanksgiving table. Thanksgiving is “My” holiday and I’m always ready to cook for 6 to 16!. Mary, Thanks for all your recipes and beautiful table settings. I love the Thanksgiving celebration and the sharing of food, and of recipes too. My family especially likes the cornbread dressing we have every Thanksgiving. We make it shaped into balls and then baked, rather than stuffing the turkey with it. Love the idea of mixing the turkey pattern plates!

My favorite food at Thanksgiving would have to be a tie between the dressing and the pies! Thanksgiving may just be my favorite holiday. As our extended family grows we struggle to find time to be together, but we all turnout for Thanksgiving at my place. After almost forty years, our day is moving to my daughter’s home. It is also the home of my newest grandchild, Mila Belle. Thank you so much for all the inspiration you provide though out the year. Thank you for these wonderful Thanksgiving recipes and ideas. I pinned your link to my Pinterest ‘Thanksgiving Ideas’ board. Of course delicious food and our family gathering are my favorite things about the holiday. We do however have a family tradition that was started when my son was a little boy. Every year we cut out paper autumn leaves and everyone writes what they are the most thankful for that year. Each year the leaves old and new are hung on a bare branch tree. My son is 34 years old now so the Thanksgiving Tree is full of beautiful leaves. We love reading and remembering all that we have had to be thankful for. I would love to win the giveaway, fingers crossed.

Impossible to name just one..but the most important part was having your loved ones around to share it with.
One of my favorite recipes for Thanksgiving was from 1993, it will always be a treasured and precious memory with my younger sister. I had just purchased my home, “Persimmon Tree Hill Cottage,” in the beautiful Smoky Mountains on Cherokee Lake. I was so excited to have my parents and sister Carla visiting for the holiday celebrations! I had the house decorated for Christmas with the Christmas trees decorated and white twinkle lights filling the tree and fireplace mantle. My sister & I had found ”THE” baked turkey recipe to try that year from a Southern Living magazine. It was the most amazing turkey that we had ever tasted!!! I saved the recipe for years but somehow I misplaced and have recreated it on occasions from memory. The ingredients were real butter slathered under the skin of the turkey, then filled the roasting pan and the inside of the turkey with dozens of sliced apples, oranges, onions, sprigs of rosemary. We then created a recipe of apple cider, orange juice, Worcestershire sauce, cinnamon, a little brown sugar, and maybe a few other ingredients that I cannot recall. My sister and I slept in the living room on the sectional sofa, snuggled up in blankets, with a fire burning in the fireplace, Christmas carols playing softly in the background, with a timer, taking turns one of us getting up each hour to baste the turkey with the delicious sauce that we had concocted, every hour, on the hour the entire night. The fragrance through out the house was amazing to say the least! She and I didn’t get much sleep that night, but we laughed, talked, shared stories, shared dreams for the future, slept and created a lifetime of sweet memories of one of my favorite Thanksgivings!!! That Thanksgiving memory went down in our family history as one of the best turkey recipes that we have ever eaten!!! That was over 26 years ago, and life, families, careers have kept us apart for many holidays but the Thanksgiving of 1993 will always bring a smile to my heart and tummy!!!
My favorite thing about Thanksgiving (besides friends and family) is my mom’s stuffing. No one makes it like her! I pinned the caramel-pecan-pumpkin bread pudding. My four favorite ingredients. This is going to be amazing! Thanks for the recipe!

Love Thanksgiving! All the special food is wonderful, but what is better than real mashed pototes and turkey gravy? It’s the best! And then of course pecan pie, YUM! All the recipes look delicious. For as long as I can remember my mother made her English Roast Potatoes for Thanksgiving. She’s gone now and I have been carrying on the tradition.
My favorite memory, was my Mom’s love of mincemeat pie with a cup of warm tea.
I truly miss her. She was sweet as the pie and had a very warm heart.
Her birthday was Nov. 22nd.

We have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner with family and friends. However, my husband and I try to keep a grateful mind set and thankful attitude. We think that is what it is REALLY all about and we have so very much to be thankful for!
My favorite part of the feast is dressing/stuffing with gravy.
I really enjoy being in the kitchen on Thanksgiving morning, watching the parade while preparing delicious traditional dishes. Spending the afternoon around the table with family is such a blessing. I share your love of dishes! I picked up a set of brown transfer ware last year and look forward to using it at my “Friendsgiving “ table this year. Your table settings are exceptional, and I have pinned many and also your recipes. Added the mini pumpkin pies and potato gratin. I make the pumpkin granola year around. I love that it doesn’t have oil in it and everyone who tries it asks for the recipe!
My favorite part of Thanksgiving is having everyone write down what they’re thankful for on slips of paper and collecting them to read later in the day. No need to sign names. I recently came across some the family had written about ten years ago, when the kids were younger. So very fun to be reminded of earlier days and of how creative they were in their thanks-giving!

I’m not a big pumpkin pie fan, but I love Paul Prudhomme’s Sweet Potato Pecan Pie. I still use the late Sheila Lukin’s Parade Magazine recipes for Glazed Turkey, Cornbread Stuffing, and Ginger Cranberry Sauce.

My favorite Thanksgivings food would have to be pecan pie. Hurricane Dorian stripped most of the pecans off the trees but this week we have been able to pick up a small bucket full. It’s been a race with the squirrels to get there first. I normally make two pecan pies, one traditional and one with Jack Daniels. We have been joining friends for Thanksgivings in a shared meal. Last year I prepared the Cranberry Apple Pumpkin Bundt Cake from your blog and it was a big hit.

Oh my goodness MARY! It’s so hard to pick a favorite food for Thanksgiving! My favorite is no longer available. It is my granny’s chicken, dumplings, and her turkey dressing. Nothing fancy, just delicious! I loved all the family gatherings at their house every Sunday and Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners were over the top in that little coal mining camp. My Aunt Rose made Thanksgiving every year for the family before she passed. Her meal was stellar and we looked forward to it every year. No one could match her “made-from-scratch” stuffing and coleslaw. We were not rich but always felt blessed to be seated at the family table to share her delicious meal.
Hands down Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday- the colors of fall and the wonderful scents of pumpkin and turkey in the oven fill the house with such a cozy warmth that makes for a perfect gathering of friends and family at the table. New recipes may be added and the table settings may be refreshed each year but one thing never changes-my grandmothers creamed onions are always the star side dish at the holiday buffet. Can’t wait for Thanksgiving!

Starting our day with the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is a tradition of Thanksgiving that we’ve had since I was a little girl. This year I’m taking my 13 year old daughter to NYC to see it live and in person. We’ll be doing our Thanksgiving a couple of days later but it’s a bucket list trip for me to see it and I cannot wait!

Hi Mary, I am one of six children (just my mom is still living) and I have the smallest house of my family so my siblings usually take turns hosting Thanksgiving dinner. My contribution and my favorite Thanksgiving food are the pumpkin pie, pecan pie and Dutch apple pie that I prepare for our get-together with the hope that everyone is too full from dinner and I will be able to have leftover pie for Friday morning breakfast.

I love absolutely everything about Thanksgiving except the horrible marshmallow topping on sweet potatoes! One of our traditions is making pine cone turkeys with the children. This year we will have a “rafter” of turkeys with many more grandchildren and great nieces and nephews old enough to participate. Thanks for the round up of recipes.
