Favorite chicken soup for cold and flu season, Lemon Chicken Orzo Soup
This ‘penicillin-in-a-bowl’ uses one of my favorite short cuts~ a rotisserie chicken from the grocery store. Orzo fills in for traditional noodles and lemon adds a bright, refreshing note to the chicken broth.
Ina Garten’s Winter Minestrone
I can’t say enough good things about this soup recipe. . .foolproof, hearty, comforting, but the proof is in the bowl. Be sure to have plenty of crusty garlic bread on hand to dunk.
Sausage-Kale and White Bean Soup
Chase away the winter chills with a bowl of hearty Sausage, Kale and White Bean Soup! Use the smoked sausage of your choice; turkey or chicken for a healthier alternative or andouille for extra spice and heat.
Irish Beef Stew with Irish Whiskey Soda Bread
No need to wait for St. Patrick’s Day for this cold weather comfort food and a delicious stick-to-your-ribs Irish Stew! You’ll also find a recipe for Irish Whiskey Soda Bread.
Roasted Pear and Butternut Squash Soup
We enjoy this soup year round and it’s a favorite that’s requested regularly by my hubby. It’s super flavorful and bonus: healthy too! Use cubed butternut squash available at most grocery stores for a time-saving shortcut.
Italian Sausage-Butternut and Black Bean Chili
A hearty and colorful chili with the nutrition and flavor bumped up with butternut squash, fire roasted tomatoes and protein-rich black beans. Chia seeds add some unexpected crunch, thickening power and beneficial omega-3s.
Less-Loaded {with Calories not Flavor!} Potato Soup
A recipe makeover for Potato Soup with the addition of oven-roasted cauliflower which becomes sweet and nutty when roasted. The Less-Loaded version is out with the calories and saturated fat~ but in with plenty of flavor and creamy texture, without the cream.
Slow Cooker Smoky Turkey & Sweet Potato Chili {with Cornbread Croutons}
Your slow cooker does all the work in this keeper recipe that’s a nice change from traditional chili. Chipotle peppers in adobo sauce add some smoky flavor and a little kick while the sweet potatoes help balance the heat. Make this recipe with the beans of your choice: lima, kidney, white or black beans. Cornbread croutons are a tasty addition and easy to whip up from a 50 cent box of Jiffy corn muffin mix to top your bowl!
A hearty, comforting and creamy chicken tortilla soup that comes together in 30 minutes using a time-saving short cut.
Transform store-bought pie crust into savory homemade crackers, a snap to make and a tasty addition for your soup bowl!

Mary, nothing says comfort on a cold winter day like a steaming bowl of soup and cornbread…a bowl of chili is in my future. We have sunshine today, but rain returns tonight.
I agree Pam, I hope you’re ice-free! Stay warm ♥
Blue skies and sun are in sight, but the temperature says brrrrr! Definitely a great day for chili and cornbread. Such a terrific range of choices you presented, all look delicious! Although chili is on the menu today, I’ll definitely try the Ina Garten recipe next. Hope you’re all staying toasty!

I think the lemon chicken orzo sounds really good Mary! Especially when they are calling for snow again tomorrow… Have a great week-stay warm:@)
Hi Lynn, I wouldn’t mind a little snow instead of all our rain. I hope you stay safe and warm! ♥
Your broccoli cheddar cornbread is calling my name! Thanks for the recipes!
Hi Katie, It’s a family favorite recipe and one we’ve enjoyed for years. I hope you’ll try it! ♥

Thank you Ann, you too! ♥
Mary, I’m actually one of those strange people who like winter and snow as long as the power stays on! There’s nothing better than a pot of soup simmering on the stove when it’s cold outside. Your soup medley looks delicious! Stay warm and cozy! Karen
Hi Karen, I’m strange too :) and enjoy winter when I don’t have worry about driving in it! Stay safe ♥
Susan, are all those soup recipes from Ina’s cookbook?
They all look so warming to the stomach. YUM YUM
Hi Terri, No, just the Winter Minestrone! Mary
These soups are calling my name, especially since yesterday we received 15″ inches of snow! Ha! I have never been a big fan of orzo, but your chicken noodle, orzo with lemon does sound so good! Also, the kale, sausage and white bean sounds like the one soup Olive Garden has that I love, so I will be trying this one for sure. Thank you for taking the time to round up all these wonderful recipes. Praying for all my sweet friends in Texas and the South who are without power. Stay safe! ♥️
Hi Cyndi, Wow 15 inches of snow, I can’t imagine! We’re under a winter weather advisory today but it will most likely be a wintry mix with ice before turning to rain. You can sub any noodle for orzo in the chicken soup. We had some this week and keep it in the freezer, it’s good for what ails ya…;) Stay warm and safe! ♥
ohh yummy!!
Hi Paula, Hope you’re warm & cozy! ♥
Mary, These recipes look delicious! Thanks for sharing! It’s definitely soup weather. Clara❤️
Hi Clara, Are you under a winter storm advisory today? Hope your stay safe and are warming up this weekend! ♥
I would enjoy any of those stews/soups, Mary, especially the Irish Beef Stew. Our frigid temperatures are begging for heartwarming comfort foods. I don’t know if I told you that I made your broccoli cornbread for New Year’s Day? We enjoyed it! Thank you for sharing all these favorites. ❤️
Hi Kitty, I just looked at the weather and saw you’re on warming trend starting Friday. It’s stilled colder in your neck of the woods than here, crazy weather! I’m glad you enjoyed the cornbread, stay warm! ♥
Fun to see them all laid out together, A cozy start to my day in California with no winter 🙁
Thanks for the soup recipes, loved each one! Loved the cracker recipe as well.
The weather is cold & snowy today, soup will be a welcome sight at the dinner table
tonight.
Jo
I love soup when it’s cold….and your recipes look so yummy! Thanks for putting together this round-up.
Thanks for this collection. I immediately felt that I was hungry. I love soups, sometimes I even eat soup for breakfast … I really want to cook any of your list. Thanks!
Thanks so much for your recipes!! They all look so good. Just got my second shot yesterday & am going to have soup for dinner tonight!
Hi Mary! Long time fan that somehow got lost for a while lol. I came across one of your dessert recipes that I printed out long ago (the red velvet cupcake sailboats!) and had to see if you were still blogging. It’s so nice to see you again. And your doggies too :)
