How about some flower therapy on a cold gray or snowy day?
I’m sharing a look back at how I puttered, played and planted around the Potting Shed this past year,
but first a ‘thank you’ for all your visits and comments in 2021!
I’m still surprised and humbled you find the time to visit my little blog and Potting Shed.
My Potting Shed turned 9 years old in September. . .how time flies!
We built it in 2012 before I’d ever heard of the concept or term, ‘She Shed’.

If you’re a longtime reader, you know I don’t actually do any ‘potting’ inside my shed,
but it’s my happy place and where my creativity blooms.
This is a photo heavy post, so grab a cup of something warm!

You have inspired me to have a garden shed! Would love to share pictures!
I would love a She Shed but we are too old now to start building a new building…BUT, if I had one I would use one part of it for potting and the other for my little crafting and make a reading corner! I have always loved yours! You are very lucky you did yours when you all were younger….I’ve been a subscriber for many years….thanks Mary!!
I adore she-sheds, but alas, at 75 they have come too late to the party for me. I would have a reading spot with comfortable seating to enjoy being surrounded by nature….the windows and doors thrown wide open.
No other blog has brought me so much joy!
Thank you for your sweet comment and visits Rhonda! Happy New Year ♥
I pinned the Miss April’s She Shed! It’s beautiful! Looks like something out if a movie! While I like it, I still prefer yours.,,it’s just more practical and my kind if shed!!
I love the She Shed post. I have used my as you do for each holiday and just a place to be alone. But how I share it with our grandchildren to have a place to play and have adventures. Very lady deserve a She Shed to have her own adventures and dreams. Thanks again for sharing Ce Ce
I e longed admired your posts so filled with your seemingly never ending creativity. The potting shed has sparked a desire for one among many of your readers.
Happy New Year Mary! Love this post, such beautiful flowersto lok and and go back and read. I have always loved your garden shed. I love mine too and have enjoyed decorating it and rearranging things in it over the years. As you know it as a little porch with a wicker rocker and small wicker love seat for taking a rest, lunch or just to gaze about the yard. I am trying hard to use ithe porch more, but usually spy some weed or something that needs water and I ‘m up and at it again, lol maybe this year….hehe.
Good Morning Mary! Lovely Gardening post. I have seen almost all of those post throughout the years. Been a big Fan since my retirement in 2010. And gardening is one of my loves. My “She Shed” Is within my home, my gardening is done outside, of course, under my arbor. It doesn’t matter if we have benches for gardening or beautiful She Sheds, just Garden! The birds and bees will be happy you did, not to mention the beauty you will reap!
Good Morning… I love reading your blog and this morning I think I clicked on every link to reread so I am making the enjoyment last a lot longer. Thank you for spreading so much joy on these cold winter days. I do not have a she shed but I do have an entire room in my house that is just mine and Southpaw’s ( my dachshund beagle mix). It is upstairs and I have a delightful window seat that allows me to peek through tree branches and watch the birds, deer, neighborhood cats …just heaven. I would love a she shed/ greenhouse and would use it to plant, read, craft, meditate, stare out the windows…and the list goes on. I look forward to each of your blogs and the pictures. Again thank you for brightening my day. Peace.
If I only had a she shed I would enjoy being creative there!
I have pinned the photo of the wire plant basket full of beautiful dishes!
Thanks for always bringing beauty to us!
I have been a subscriber for a while, your shed is my favorite. I have used your ideas in my shed. The watering can chain is a work in progress at my place!
Mary, if I had a shed I would use it as an art studio. I am a designer, however I got back to my roots with painting when the pandemic first hit. I absolutely love your posts for every season. You always put a smile on my face and give me inspirations that feed my soul-just what I need in this crazy world. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Sarah
If I had a she shed I would have a comfy chair, some tea, my seasonal decorations, and all my wonderful books. The perfect place to relax and dream.
Mary, what a gorgeous review of your Potting Shed. I need flower therapy on this cold but sunny day. Happy Weekend!
Such a wonderful year in your She Shed Mary! You captured every season and holiday with beautiful blooms, accessories and fun! Congrats on being a calendar girl too! I always think of your Potting Shed as your play house and you have brought us so much joy by sharing it with us. Looking at all your beautiful flowers really helps brighten up this 26 degree morning…wishing you many joyful hours in your Potting Shed in 2022!
Jenna
Yes! I do have a garden shed…and it is a She Shed because my husband has his own He Shed! LOL! However, my shed dosen’t look as beautiful as yours! My husband just came in the room as I was reading this post, and I told him, “Come spring, i wanna clean out my shed!!” He wondered where in the world that came from because he was headed out to shovel snow! I told him i was reading a blog about a She Shed that gives me incentive! ❤ Thank you for all you post.
I don’t have a She Shed, but just love them. I can think of many tasks to do in one, a wonderful place to be creative and decorate for the seasons. I do have a orchid house, and spend hours with my plants, repotting, fertilizing or staking them as they put out spikes for bloom. Thank you for the beautiful trip around your yard.
GORGEOUSNESS!!! Power outages, trees down everywhere…needed THIS!!! franki
Good morning Mary,
I just love your She Shed, I don’t have one but can think of so many reasons to. I do have a orchid house and spend many hours in it repotting, fertilizing, or staking plants putting out blooms. I always feel refreshed after a day with my plants. Thank you for sharing your beautiful blooms, and table settings. They are gorgeous.
1. Wow, congrats Miss October. Love these billion photos, esp the beescape, the darling pink transferware that never gets old and all those gardening inspiration photos. This is one of the few blogs that I saw with my husband from time to time. Long time subscriber and pinned the beescape photo. 2. Thanks esp for the inspiration today as I woke up to minus 20 degrees, but know that warmer temps are on the way. 3. I don’t have a she shed but enjoy the fact that you don’t use it for potting. After all, why mess it up.
I pinned the pics of the forsythia wreath and the mosaic bee bath
My first comment on she-sheds did not post. I would love to have a shed, but at 75, it’s a little late to begin that sort of project. I would play in it as you do but also have comfy seating for curling up to read a book, enjoying being surrounded by my woods and God’s nature. (the door and windows would be wide open!
Mary, Your She Shed is beautiful! I love the paint colors especially the darker red color paired with the softer green. I had a she shed but since we do kitten rescue, we needed the space for various supplies so I got totally moved out! I now have a nice sized craft room and walk in attic for my pretties! Clara ❤️
I pinned several pics and began a she shed category also. Clara ❤️
I would love to win a calendar! We have always planned to build a potting shed, so hopefully that dream will be realized soon. I plan to use mine for potting, puttering, and crafting my homemade all-natural soaps. Thanks for the wonderful post and giveaway!
Oh to have a SheShed where I could putter with all the things. It would be a dream come true.
I pinned your beautiful Bee wreath . It’s beautiful!
If I had a “she shed” I would use it for my journal making space. I would have a long table, a cabinet with many drawers to hold my journaling and art materials, a chair on wheels, an idea/inspiration board, and shelves with much loved collected objects and paintings. One can dream…
I pinned the first photo of the Valentine vignette. The china is so pretty and makes me want to give a Valentine tea for my friends.
Mary, I submitted this comment, but it did not show up. Just don’t want for you to think I’m trying to enter the giveaway twice. If I had a “she shed” I would use it for my space to make my journals. I would have a long table, a cabinet with small drawers to hold my supplies, a chair on wheels, shelves to hold much loved collected objects and paintings, and a window for good light. One can dream…
I don’t have a she shed but if I did, I would use it for relaxing and reading. Also to spend special time with my grandchildren!
Gorgeous Mary! What a feast for the eyes! I’m a long time follower and have potting shed envy! I would love to have a shed to escape to and play in. I would use it to read and craft. Please enter me in the calendar giveaway. Looking forward to your potting shed posts in the coming year!
The flowers , the shed, the dishes! So much beauty to look at. Love your blog and pictures.
Always have time to look at your beautiful creations and pictures!
Loved seeing all the pics from your wonderful potting shed table settings! Harvest Time and Garden Table in the Potting Shed is one of my favorites and I have pinned that one. I have a she shed called “Rosebud Cottage.” I loved decorating it and hold ladies lunches for 4 in it. I even held a Halloween witches dinner!! Your potting shed inspires me so much. Thanks for all of your fabulous posts!!
Sheryl
I don’t have a She Shed, but I sure do enjoy yours! I love the way you use it to style tablescapes, love the window details, and all the details outside on and around your little paradise. I’ve followed it’s progress through the years. You’ve created an amazing space. What vision! Congratulations on the Calendar spot!
Another beautiful and inspiring year from my favorite Potting Shed Mary! I love how you use it for flowers, dish love, and your DIYs too. Looking forward to more beautiful posts in 2022! Jerrie
Oh this is just what the doctor ordered on a cold January morning! Everytime I see those big beautiful hydrangeas around your shed and in your arrangements it makes my heart beat a little faster. I would to have a shed but our HOA doesn’t allow it so I’ll have to live vicariously through yours. If I had a shed, I use it to read and have tea parties with my granddaughters. Thanks for fun and inspiration. Happy New Year!
I pinned your bee wreath and beautiful photo of your window boxes and hydrangeas!
I don’t know how you continue to top yourself Mary! I love your playful spirit and how you use your shed for tablescaping in addition to gardening. Your woodland friends table is one of my favorites of all time and your skeleton crew tickles my funny bone. :) Thank you for the joy you bring to your readers. Wishing you a happy and healthy new year!
Teresa
I have loved this from day one, so fun to see the months splayed out in all their glory! How can my favorite potting shed be nine years old already??!! You are surrounded by beauty that you’ve created and I’m so thankful that you share it with us! You’re always a bright spot in our days, Mary!
Happy New Year! First of all, I. LOVE YOUR BLOG! It appeals so much to my creative side that just ITCHES to get out, and finally, after 22 years in federal law enforcement, I retired and I am READY TO JOIN THE SHE-SHED CLUB! I commandeered my husband’s little lawn equipment storage box, so THAT’S a START! I’m looking forward this year to gardening and having “me she-shed” time to look over your blog and do a little online shopping for me she-shed spruce it up! I look forward to seeing your next work!
I have always loved your potting shed! I remember after you built it… I dreamed of one and now I finally have one!
I enjoyed your round up and can not pick a favorite! Love them all!
Thank you for the she shed inspiration and flower therapy!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
This post has me excited for the coming year and return to the garden, Mary! You’ve inspired me many times with your garden plants, your tables and your gift of creativity. I am on cordial terms with the people who bought our home…..perhaps she has a daylily or two like yours that sprung in her garden which I planted in fall 2018 that she can pass along. 😉 Thanks for sharing your potting shed year after year.
It’s fun seeing all the activity in and around your she shed during 2021! Since I converted our front parlor into an art studio, if I had a she shed I’d build a greenhouse.
A beautiful round up of my favorite potting shed in blogland! It’s such a welcome sight to see all these gorgeous blooms when I’m staring at snow on the ground! I’m a long time follower I would love to have a shed but our property doesn’t have room for one unfortunately. If I had a shed I would use it like you do for flowers and entertaining and some quiet time. Thanks Mary!
I found you at Between Naps on the Porch and I am smitten with your shed! Oh to have one to retreat to and play in would be a dream come true. I would love to be entered in your calendar giveaway. Thank you!
I pinned your beautiful collage for another chance to enter!
I love your year in review when I can see your post compilations! Your photography is top notch too! If I should be so lucky to have a she shed I would use it for crafting and reading. Please enter me in your giveaway.
You have such a gift and green thumb! I can’t tear my eyes away from those big beautiful hydrangea blooms! I’m an email subscriber and have followed you for several years now. I don’t have a shed but would love to hijack our garden storage shed and make my hubby store all the lawn equipment elsewhere so I could doll it up! I pinned your ‘flowers’ sign shed photos for an extra chance to win. Thanks for the giveaway!
If I had a she shed i would definitely have an area in it for potting/growing plants. And another area for painting/drawing/crafting and general fun-making :) I’ve been following you for quite some time and love your tablescapes and flower arranging and delicious recipes!
What a amazing and beutiful art gallery…
